Risk Day 15 - RNG Is A Real Butthole At Times. Take 2.
So you know how we were going to take the fight to TAM and go ham on Sparty South? Well, apparently somebody forgot to tell RNG about our plan. Based on probabilities, we were expected to end the turn with 13.7 territories, which may have included gaining a foothold in Texas. Instead, we ended the night with just 9(!) territories and were kicked out of New Mexico.
Our losses included 5 territories where we were favored, and our wins included just a single territory where we were underdogs (Indiana). Fortunately, thanks to you guys, we continue to amass power at a rate that our rivals can't touch, which means that we should be able to bounce back fairly quickly. What exactly will that bounce back look like? I'm not sure, but behind the scenes our CFBRisk mods are constantly strategizing and negotiating with other teams.
Seriously, they're putting in WORK (they just created a dedicated Twitter account for the effort @cfb_risk, which is absurd, hilarious, and awesome...and shows just how much we need sports back). So, as long as you guys keep going to MichiganCFBRisk.com (and now @cfb_risk) every day -- and recruiting your competition-starved Michigan buddies -- there's little doubt that there will be A LOT more yellow on the map in short order. Thank you again for your continued participation (seriously, it has been IMPRESSIVE), and Go Blue!
How Does the Game Work?
On turn 1, each team starts with their home territory. It is up to each team to recruit players and coordinate moves. You can choose to defend any territory that your team currently holds or attack any adjacent territory. A "roll" happens each evening at 11 PM EST to calculate which teams have won which territories that turn based on the moves that were made by individual players. The ultimate goal is to conquer as much of the map as possible for your team. There are a number of different ways to do this, such as through recruiting players in sheer numbers or forming alliances with other teams.

I thought this was silly and dumb then I signed up and now I’m all in.
Be like me and channel your mania, MGoHorde!
I need a ufr to explain the failures in strategy/execution.
one of the failures people talked about last year was that 'moles' were joining up in the group and then of course ratting us out to their co-conspirators.
the other is that the refs screwed us in new mexico and texas. we get one good roll of the dice and bingo, that map turns 100% maize.
the other is that the refs screwed us in new mexico and texas.
And BYU. There were 45 Michigan players defending, 13 of which had a power of 9. We lost to Stanford, with 3 attackers, 2 of which had a power of 6.
Outrageous! I want the random-number generator to be fired!
Rigged-number generator is also RNG ?
Indeed!
Well, there's only one thing for it: recruit so many Wolverines that even a rigged number generator cannot stop our righteous fury.
I miss dropkicks.
Your strategy isn't working.
That's what we want everyone to think. :)
This why you speak softly and carry a big stick. All that trash talk yesterday pissed off Karma.
....but it was so much fun calling them the Sparty of the South!
But it's not fun without trash talk!
I'm recruiting more Wolverines.
By the way, is it within the rules to sign up for more than one account per person? Asking for a friend.
NO! Do not do that! Very against the rules.
Fighting the two other biggest teams at the same time is a pretty questionable strategy. About to get pincered from both sides.
We are about to employ Risk judo. All is not as it seems! :)
