Rick Pitino
After reading the semi-torid details of the extortion plot against Pitino, I for one am glad we did not hire him as basketball coach. Affair, Sex in a restaurant, abortion paid for by Pitino. With the media gunning for the Michigan program right now a situation like this would be ruinious. I can only imagine the Sharp/Rosenberg articles that would've resulted. Thank goodness for small favors.

Looks like I am a bit late to the party. When did we get adidas jerseys?

From 2001 - 2009
Louisville
197-72 (0.732), one Final Four, 2 Elite Eight appearances
Michigan
139-120 (0.536), one NCAA tournament appearance
Before this past basketball season, Michigan fans have been kicking themselves for us not landing Pitino, as the records above show. We've seen what Beilein can do, but we had to wait nearly an entire decade to recover.

Back in 2001 I was hoping we'd hire him. I even signed the petition to Bill Martin about it that was going around on the Diag. I'm sure he'd have done better than Amaker. But I don't know if I'd swap Beilein for him (and not because of this sordid episode). Beilein is that good.

Maybe Martin realized that Pitino comes with a lot of baggage and wanted to ensure that there wasn't another UM basketball scandal on his watch. If trust was the main issue, I would certainly have to agree with Martin on this one.

Pitino turned us down. Apparently, his wife wanted to move back to Kentucky.

I think she was hot...really hot.. just saw video of her on ESPN. Pitino was unlucky due to the post-party results.......
question though... is he married with kids? If so... he has bad character, bad luck (pregnancy, phycho barbie doll syndrome), but....
IDK... I know I am married with kids and would not make the decision he did...what would you do?

Well I would not do that. That would really mess your life up pretty bad.

He's married, with five children.
