Revised Scouting Ohio 2012 Player Rankings

Submitted by Logan on

I just saw this on Bucknuts and had to post this. Check out Scouting Ohio's new player rankings for the 2012 class. Apparently, the rankings are determined using some advanced formula concocted in Columbus by Bucknut "analysts" Bill Kurelic and Duane Long and something called jjhuddle.com. I'm not even mad, this is just hilarious.

Here's the top 20:

1. Joshua Perry (OSU)

2. Devan Bogard (OSU)

3. Ifeadi Odenigbo

4. William Mahone

5. Taylor Decker (ND)

6. Warren Ball Jr. (OSU)

7. Sevon Pittman (MSU)

8. Kyle Dodson (Wisc)

9. Brionte Dunn (OSU?)

10. Chris Wormley (UM)

11. Adolphus Washington

12. Kyle Kalis (UM)

13. Tom Strobel (UM)

14. Kaleb Ringer (UM)

15. Greg McMullen (Neb)

16. Najee Murray (OSU)

17. Joe Bolden (UM)

18. Benny McGowan (MSU)

19. Frank Epitroplous (OSU)

That's bizarre.  I literally just finished my own incredibly scientific ranking of Ohio recruiting targets, using my own incredibly advanced formula, and came up with this:

1. Chris Wormley (UM), Kyle Kalis (UM), Tom Strobel (UM), Kaleb Ringer (UM), Joe Bolden (UM) [TIED]

6. Brionte Dunn

7. William Mahone

8. Adolphus Washington

9. Ifeadi Odenigbo

10. Blake Thomas

11. Kyle Dodson (Wisc)

12. Greg McMullen (Neb)

13. Taylor Decker (ND)

14. Sevon Pittman (MSU)

15. Benny McGowan (MSU)

Worst Ever. Joshua Perry (OSU), Devan Bogard (OSU), Warren Ball Jr. (OSU), Najee Murray (OSU), Frank Epitroplous (OSU) [TIED]

Huh.

......since when did Bucknuts have people who knew enough about football (or any subject really) to be analysts? Methinks someone is trying  to make the OSU fanbase feel better about its sorry  self.

Yeah we're having a good laugh about this over on 247.  Even the bucknuts crowd is questioning it.  Maybe after all the Hoke is negative recruiting nonsense, bashing Kalis and Glasgow after initially praising them because they switched to UM, and continually saying all is well, perhaps their paying subscribers are starting to see the light.

I expect nothing less from the same fanbase that has convinced themselves that tsio is innocent in the NCAA investigation and that all this looking is just "the media" having it out for them. So stupid it's funny, thank you for posting this.

Only thing that surprises me is how brazenly biased it is. This isn't the first time they've done this and won't be the last but at least put some effort in to trying to hide your slappiness.

I am so not surprised by this.  If you live here in Ohio (and unfortunately I do) and you listen to sports talk radio at all you'll hear callers propose trades like Ramon Sessions, Boobie Gibson and our 2nd round pick in 2015 for Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol.  People are freaking nuts when it comes to evaluating Ohio talent so those rankings from their perspective seem about right to me.

like something concocted on High St. at a tattoo parlor in the Short North.  These people are just misinformed.

I've done my own research

Joshua Perry- Scouting Ohio 1,  Rivals 9

Devan Bogard- SO 2, Rivals 15

Warren Ball Jr.- SO 6, Rivals 13

Bri'onte Dunn- SO 9, Rivals 8

Najee Murray- SO 16, Rivals NR

Frank Epitropoulos- SO 19, Rivals 31

Blake Thomas- SO 20, Rivals 20

Luke Roberts- SO 25, Rivals 57

Tyvis Powell- SO 27, Rivals 38

Jacoby Boren- SO 32, Rivals 26

Roger Lewis- SO 35, Rivals NR

Pat Elflein- SO 44, Rivals NR

Every player committed to Ohio State, except for Bri'onte Dunn and Jacoby Boren, is rated higher on Scouting Ohio than Rivals.  In fact, they are rated higher by an average of 17 spots. Even that is assuming all the players not rated on Rivals would be the best unrated prospect which would make them 61st in the state.

I have seen Perry and Bogard, as well as Boren, play.  They are pretty good players, and maybe better than that...but they are not in the same league as Pittman, Wormley, Washington, Kalis, etc.

When I started following college football recuriting over the internet...BK was one of the first  I would take his opinion serious about the talent or where he saw the kid projected to play,in college.

Now...I find him to be interesting, but pointless.

Those folks over there at Bucknuts are kidding....they have to be!
