Revised Scouting Ohio 2012 Player Rankings
I just saw this on Bucknuts and had to post this. Check out Scouting Ohio's new player rankings for the 2012 class. Apparently, the rankings are determined using some advanced formula concocted in Columbus by Bucknut "analysts" Bill Kurelic and Duane Long and something called jjhuddle.com. I'm not even mad, this is just hilarious.
Here's the top 20:
1. Joshua Perry (OSU)
2. Devan Bogard (OSU)
3. Ifeadi Odenigbo
4. William Mahone
5. Taylor Decker (ND)
6. Warren Ball Jr. (OSU)
7. Sevon Pittman (MSU)

I got to believe that is a joke. Even Bucknuts are not that stupid.
Well, then again...
August 10th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
The advanced metric involves subtracting points if commited outside of ohio and double if to U of M.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:16 PM ^
Sour grapes much?
August 10th, 2011 at 6:17 PM ^
I'm surprised that Chris Wormley got into the top 10 as a Michigan commit.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:18 PM ^
The 18th ranked player nationally is the 12th ranked player in the state of Ohio. I heard Ohio was deep this year, but that doesnt seem quite right.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:20 PM ^
the top five should be imo,
1.odenigbo
2.kalis
3.dunn
4.washington
5. decker
the funniest part about this is stanford not cracking the top 20, this is hilarious.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
Your top 5 is almost as comical.. Decker, really?
August 10th, 2011 at 6:23 PM ^
decker is talented. i dont think he is near as good as kalis, but he is good.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:17 PM ^
He's a better LT prospect.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
Yeah, #39, C'mon...
August 10th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
i'm sure if you fooled them and told them kalis flipped to osu, he'd be #1 in ohio.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:22 PM ^
How is Frank Epitropolous ranked higher than Monty Madaris.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:24 PM ^
That's bizarre. I literally just finished my own incredibly scientific ranking of Ohio recruiting targets, using my own incredibly advanced formula, and came up with this:
1. Chris Wormley (UM), Kyle Kalis (UM), Tom Strobel (UM), Kaleb Ringer (UM), Joe Bolden (UM) [TIED]
6. Brionte Dunn
7. William Mahone
8. Adolphus Washington
9. Ifeadi Odenigbo
10. Blake Thomas
11. Kyle Dodson (Wisc)
12. Greg McMullen (Neb)
13. Taylor Decker (ND)
14. Sevon Pittman (MSU)
15. Benny McGowan (MSU)
Worst Ever. Joshua Perry (OSU), Devan Bogard (OSU), Warren Ball Jr. (OSU), Najee Murray (OSU), Frank Epitroplous (OSU) [TIED]
Huh.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
Well, it passes the eye exam. I'd be interested in seeing the formula behind it, although, I'm sure the logic is sound.
August 10th, 2011 at 8:12 PM ^
What the heck sound does logic make? I never heard it.

Much better.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:24 PM ^
Frank Epitroplous couldnt carry my lunch box ...hes average at best
August 10th, 2011 at 6:27 PM ^
Don't legitimize garbage like this by reposting it.
August 10th, 2011 at 8:24 PM ^
My only intent was for everyone to have a laugh. The last thing I was thinking about was lending legitimacy to this idiocy. But point taken...
August 10th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
Luke Roberts at 25 might be the funniest thing of all.

August 10th, 2011 at 7:19 PM ^
the guy comes in at #16 but (per rivals) is unranked nationally, unranked at CB and unranked in ohio (and ahead of several consensus 4* types). thus, this must be a joke
August 10th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
......since when did Bucknuts have people who knew enough about football (or any subject really) to be analysts? Methinks someone is trying to make the OSU fanbase feel better about its sorry self.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:36 PM ^
Yeah we're having a good laugh about this over on 247. Even the bucknuts crowd is questioning it. Maybe after all the Hoke is negative recruiting nonsense, bashing Kalis and Glasgow after initially praising them because they switched to UM, and continually saying all is well, perhaps their paying subscribers are starting to see the light.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
......didn't this guy find work in OSU's Public Relations department?
August 10th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
Baghdad Bob is now awaiting in the wings for a top spot in THE Administration of OSU to open up for him after August 12....stay tuned to your TV sets. The OSU fan base is really buzzing about this possibility. Bring back the street cred Bagh-y pants!
August 11th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
Baghdad Bob indeed.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:36 PM ^
I expect nothing less from the same fanbase that has convinced themselves that tsio is innocent in the NCAA investigation and that all this looking is just "the media" having it out for them. So stupid it's funny, thank you for posting this.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
August 10th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
The best news is seeing Dunn so low. Hopefully they have good information that he is going to switch and that is why they ranked him with the other Michigan guys.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:18 PM ^
We can only hope
August 10th, 2011 at 6:48 PM ^
These people are really fucking crazy.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:48 PM ^
Stupid is as stupid does, Maam.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
I am so not surprised by this. If you live here in Ohio (and unfortunately I do) and you listen to sports talk radio at all you'll hear callers propose trades like Ramon Sessions, Boobie Gibson and our 2nd round pick in 2015 for Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. People are freaking nuts when it comes to evaluating Ohio talent so those rankings from their perspective seem about right to me.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:52 PM ^
like something concocted on High St. at a tattoo parlor in the Short North. These people are just misinformed.
August 10th, 2011 at 6:56 PM ^
Looks like we picked all the crappy players from Ohio. Oh, hamburgers.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:00 PM ^
I've done my own research
Joshua Perry- Scouting Ohio 1, Rivals 9
Devan Bogard- SO 2, Rivals 15
Warren Ball Jr.- SO 6, Rivals 13
Bri'onte Dunn- SO 9, Rivals 8
Najee Murray- SO 16, Rivals NR
Frank Epitropoulos- SO 19, Rivals 31
Blake Thomas- SO 20, Rivals 20
Luke Roberts- SO 25, Rivals 57
Tyvis Powell- SO 27, Rivals 38
Jacoby Boren- SO 32, Rivals 26
Roger Lewis- SO 35, Rivals NR
Pat Elflein- SO 44, Rivals NR
Every player committed to Ohio State, except for Bri'onte Dunn and Jacoby Boren, is rated higher on Scouting Ohio than Rivals. In fact, they are rated higher by an average of 17 spots. Even that is assuming all the players not rated on Rivals would be the best unrated prospect which would make them 61st in the state.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:20 PM ^
so it's a plus 17 if you commit to OSU and a negative 9 if you commit to U of M.
The homers will say it's because they are better at judging talent then rivals.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:01 PM ^
Anyone can put anything they want on the internet. That's a fact. These people have clearly exposed themselves as massive OSU homers. Nuff said.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
hahaha, wasn't wormley and Kalis #1 and #2 according to them just a few months ago?
August 10th, 2011 at 7:16 PM ^
Yep. This is just a complete joke. I've never respected Keurlic, but Long has been pretty objective in the past even though he is a homer. I think this recruiting cycle is starting to get to him.
August 10th, 2011 at 7:25 PM ^
I have seen Perry and Bogard, as well as Boren, play. They are pretty good players, and maybe better than that...but they are not in the same league as Pittman, Wormley, Washington, Kalis, etc.
August 10th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
When I started following college football recuriting over the internet...BK was one of the first I would take his opinion serious about the talent or where he saw the kid projected to play,in college.
Now...I find him to be interesting, but pointless.
Those folks over there at Bucknuts are kidding....they have to be!
