RB Karan Higdon was 6 Yards from Turning Pro

Submitted by SkyPanther on

"I was very close," Higdon said. "If I touched a thousand (rushing yards) I was leaving. It wasn't meant to happen, that's how I look at it. It only put me in a better position to achieve that mission. I don't think I left it on the field during (the Outback Bowl). I don't think it accumulated from that game, I think it had to do with previous games. Maybe previous practices or workouts. Somewhere along the line, I took a shortcut that I should not have taken. I think I felt it in that game."

So glad he is coming back.  That is a bizarre and arbitrary reason to come back, but we will take it.  He is a talented player with NFL potential.  I believe coming back will help him realize his NFL dreams.  Welcome back and cannot wait to watch you play this year Karan!

Wouldn't have blamed him if he did.  He probably would have been mid-to-late round at best, but a running back only has so many hits in him, and it's best to get paid for as many of those hits as possible.

Karan has really solidified himself since coming to UM but would he have really been a draft-worthy back last year with so many good running backs going to the NFL. He proved himself last year, even more so than the Chris Evans hype machine but he needed to come back for a lot of reasons and his lack of draft stock was one of them.

Interesting in that his fumble near the goal line started the SC comeback.  Had he not fumbled, we win easily by salting it away with him running the ball.  Surely then, he goes well over 1,000 yds...

Mr. Higdon,

Welcome back and glad to have you. Please work on your pass protection, and you will have a much better shot at the NFL.

I'm glad he's back but I look at him like Charles Mathews. Had either of them went pro it would have been a terrible mistake.

Higdon would have been at best a 4th or 5th round pick with how deep the RB class was this year. He was no where near ready for the NFL. If he goes big this season he'll set himself up nicely.

Hopefully the OL is actually ready to open up some holes.

Good for us and him I think. RB is a tough, tough position and this draft class especially was very deep. I think he goes higher next year than he would have this year.

I am so pumped for this season,  our offensive backfield is gonna be beast. Higdon looking like he could go pro now, and will be one of the best backs in the big10, with Chris evans also, i look forward to seeing us have a competent offense this year, as long as Shae Patterson plays average well have a good team. I cant wait for sept 1st.
