Questions/Comments From the Game

Submitted by gater on

I'm back from the game sans voice.  I really appreciate what the team did in the second half to pay us back for tha pain that was the first.  I do have a few questions and comments:

- What was the yellow print on the 25 yard lines?  I'm assuming it was about the 500th game, but i couldn't read it from section 7.

-  I kept having the feeling that the defense was doing great in the first half holding Wisconsin to field goals, but they still gave up like 228 yards.  Does anyone know the time of possession difference in the first half?  It had to be substantial for a defense that was playing well to give up 228 yards.

- Did anyone else notice that there were several penalties NOT called on big Wisconsin plays?  Mostly holding, but jebus were some of them blatant.

-It was great after the game because there was a big RV full of Wisconsin students, that were very cocky before the game, just holding their heads after.  Even though they were loud and cocky before, i didn't say anything after, just sat there and admired the change in fortune.

- This had to be great for recruiting.  This gave the recruits a chance to see how loud and hyped the crowd gets and that the spread will actually work at Michigan.

great game...great

regarding recruiting. will cambell was at the game and i couldn't help but think after that awesome W that this had to be good at least getting him to commit. hopefully this somehow gets us OMG shirtless recruits in order for us to we win multiple NC's and i can be rich and have a hot wife. i

I saw somebody else mention here that Big Will was at the game.  Was he actually there or is this just a rumor?  I tried to find out what recruits were at the game this week and the only guy listed on Scout or Rivals for a visit was Brandin Hawthorne.

I hope there were more there to see this.

We had the ball like 4.30 and 5.20 in the first 2 quarters. Second half was slighlty better, overall Wiscy had 12 odd mins adv. So that's little less than a whole quarter!!

Yup stuff about the 500 th game. Apart from that 46 yard Clay run...our D held up pretty good in the first half 190 odd yards (111 running and 80 odd passing) considering the absolutely horrendous situations that they were put in by our O. We were gashed pretty good on the last two drives..but that was a function of being on the field for a loong time and also the balant tackling of our Dl by Wiscy's OL....i mean it was really ridiculous to see on TV..WTF refs, i am surprised that they even called that ineligible downfield on Beckum. And on PJ's screen/swing 20 yard run there a balant clip on Thomopson/Mouton that was not called ..hello refs and that got the last drive started for Wiscy!

Ehh..we won so fuck it...we gave up 380 some yards (158 on ground and 226 passing, with 4sacks for loss of 20)

To be honest, I'm not sure how great it is for recruiting when the team gets booed off the field. Just saying.

I question how many fans thought that Coach Rod would come out the second half and start Sheridan at QB.  I certainly would have pulled Threet and gave Sheridan a shot, I give Coach Rod alot of credit for sticking with Threet. As much as Michigan loaded the box, Wisconsin did the same.  When Threet started to hit his recievers the game opened up for Michigan.  With this offensive line I believe the passing game will set up the run, not the other way around-how do you guys see it?

The yellow print on the 25-yard lines read "MICHIGAN STADIUM 500TH GAME."

As for the game being good for recruiting, hell yeah it was.  Recruits won't remember the first half.  They'll remember the second half - when the team came roaring back, the stadium went nuts - and the afterglow Saturday night, when (I imagine) the campus was buzzing.
