question about UM vs MSU

Submitted by sheepman on
Call me an elitist, and call me green, but I have a question of why a recruit would choose MSU over UM. (Like what seems to be happening with Gholston). Why would anyone in their right mind choose MSU? It is much less academically, AA is much cooler, the Big House is cooler, much less history of a football program (and university), and so on. I can't see one advantage of MSU over UM in football, save the 2008 year - basketball maybe, but not football. Can someone help me understand?

Your friends might go there. You might have grown up a fan. You may want to go into agriculture. You may want to play in their offense/defense rather than Michigan's. You may dislike Rich Rodriguez. You may see more of an opportunity for playing time. You may be afraid of Michigan's academics. You may get along better with the staff. You may see MSU as an up-and-coming program while Michigan might seem in the downswing.

Yeah, there's an established rule that a girl just needs to be more hot than she is crazy. That's all. If she's not that hot but totally un-crazy, then you're probably in good shape since almost all girls are crazy. If she's quite crazy but super hot, eh, you look past a little crazy. She's hot, dammit! EDIT: I can't remember who I heard this from, but I'm pretty sure it was WolverSwede, so I need to give him credit.

I think "batshit crazy" is sufficient as an answer to your question. Of course, that aspect isn't always good when you find out that, you know, someone is [likely] trying to get pregnant so you'll marry her.

Using words like "cooler" to explain why one thing is better than another is not very compelling. I think AA is cooler than EL. My friends who went to State think EL is cooler than AA. Some people think Columbus is really cool, while others think State College is cool, even though they are totally different. Could it be that different people have different criteria for what they think is cool? Also, people on here give way too much credit to the academics piece. If a recruit is a 3.8 student in high school, this is a big sell. However, most of them aren't. To the 2.9 GPA student, M academics can be intimidating, and going to a school that has a good academic rep but not elite might be a better fit.

I dated two girls at UM. One was extremely hot; the other was just okay. In conclusion, 50% of girls at Michigan are hot.

The hot versus crazy rule was a hard lesson to learn for my former roommate. He convinced this girl (smoking hot) who was also bisexual to let him join in the reindeer games. Short of it was, the girlfriend started liking my roommate a little to much. We all worked at a little bar at that time, and at the end of the night, the smoking hot girl comes in, gun in hand threatening to shoot the roommates man parts to kingdom come. The safety was on which gave us enough time to grab the gun out of her hand. She was pulling the trigger as hard as she could as we got to her.

My sister went to MSU because they have a better sequential undergrad/grad program (5 years total). I should disown her correct? Thanks I'll hang up and listen.

Allrighty - I feel prety strongly about the ladies at MSU...most of my high school friends went to State and I would head up there to party probably one weekend every 4-6 weeks. Not only were the girls there pretty hot, but they were nice. I found that MOST hot girls at U of M had an attitude and gave off a vibe of inapproachability...when I went to MSU house parties (which were a blast by the way) you could go up to any hot chick and talk to them and often get a little play out of the whole scenario...I cant recall a single time where a girl would do the blow off ignore thing that would happen to me semi-regularly at Umich if I went up to a sorority girl to introduced myself. And no I was not creepy or anything...just found girls at MSU to be more easy going and frankly more fun...I love umich and AA, but the girls at MSU win by a large margin IMO. I was class of '00 by the way not sure if things have changed since then in AA or were different before my day...wow that was long...

Maybe you are into ancient history and spartans was your favorite discussion. Green may be your favorite color. Notice, a few Michigan recruits had winged helmets in HS, maybe some have green high school colors. Grew up a spartan fan because all your friends liked them. Spread offense isn't for you. It is either msu or mich, Mich just signed a top qb, why go ride the pine 4 years under him? GO to MSU.

A lot more hot girls go to state. Hot slutty girls go to state. Classy hot girls go to Michigan.
