Question about pioneer parking

Submitted by switch26 on October 17th, 2022 at 11:27 AM

Just curious what the story is this year with pioneer parking?  We went there for the Washington game last year and they had plenty of lots blocked off for park and party passes.

Is there still a general public parking at pioneer even?  I figured with them not allowing RVs now there should be more parking available?

Curious if someone can clarify things for me.

I parked at Pioneer for the CSU game. I bought my tickets weeks ahead of time from ParkNParty.com. I believe at that game they were accepting both pre-paid cars and folks with cash buying day-of, but I'm not certain about the latter.

FYI, if you do pre-buy, make sure you have access to a printer. The site has many warnings that the parking pass must be printed, rather than just downloaded to a phone.

I was there for the Maryland game. Plenty of parking in my opinion. But since Big Noon Kickoff was there for the last two home games (which includes Maryland) I'm guessing that parking availability would have been a lot larger.

I *think* that general parking (non-pre paid parknparty) parks on the far side of pioneer, so a hefty walk for that hefty price tag. I vaguely recall this from the announcement when the parking company switched.

Unless you're tailgating, I'll never understand why people pay to park, especially for spots that aren't necessarily that close anyway (like you mention, the far side of Pioneer parking is almost to 7th, and that's just one example). $30, $40, $50+ just for a parking spot? Walk 5-10 minutes further down Stadium and there are side streets you can park on for free.

Again, the caveat is tailgating, but since I don't, I just can't justify throwing down that kind of cash week after week just to save me an extra few minutes of walking time...

There is still general auto parking at Pioneer that isn't tied to Tailgate Concierge or Park & Party.  When the new company took over both of those other companies got their grubby little meathooks into the Pioneer scene.  In 2021 is was a bit of a mess but they've cleaned it up some in 2022, not dedicating as much space to those other businesses.

Best way though is if you think you're going to make the game, buy the pass online instead of trying at the gate.  Even with that don't wait until like 2h before the game to try and get in as the lots can fill up fast the closer it is to game time unless the opponent is really bad with no practical traveling fan base.

Looking at what's left - MSU will fill up, Neb will fill up, and with Illinois actually having a decent year I'd expect a presence from their fans as well.

I looked into this too late last and wasn’t able to pre-pay for anything. I wasn’t sure if you could park there without a pass so I just decided ahead of time to go to the golf course and have no regrets.
