Purdue Homecoming Kickoff Set for Noon
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletics Department announced Wednesday (May 25) the football team's Oct. 29 homecoming game against Purdue University is slated for a noon EDT kickoff and will be broadcast live by ABC, ESPN/ESPN2 or the Big Ten Network.
It marks Michigan's 111th homecoming game in Ann Arbor, and it will be the seventh time U-M has hosted Purdue on homecoming. The Wolverines hold an 83-27 record in their previous 110 homecoming contests, including a 5-1 mark against the Boilermakers. Michigan owns a 42-14 record all-time against Purdue and a 23-5 advantage in Michigan Stadium (27-5 home record in Ann Arbor).
It marks the third confirmed kickoff time on U-M's football schedule. The Wolverines will host Notre Dame at 8 p.m. EDT on Sept. 10 in a contest nationally televised by ESPN in the first night game at Michigan Stadium. The Big Ten Network will broadcast the Michigan-Northwestern game in Evanston, Ill., at 6 p.m. CDT on Oct. 8.

Ughh, thats fine. Just means I have to wake up earlier. Nice thing about noon games though is that when they're over, it still feels like you have the whole day to do whatever.
Purdue is a body bag game for us next year. No excuses losing at homecoming with a noon kickoff.
Do you think a noon kickoff confers some special advantage? I think it weakens the homefield advantage, if anything.
A noon kickoff is usually reserved for lesser opponents. There are exceptions, such as M-OSU, but it's my general understanding that weaker opponents are played at noon. ND will be a great litmus test to see how the homefield advantage is amplified later in the day (or not).
"...how the hell are we playing someone so good for homecoming?" occasional dilemma, I think they try and keep the homecoming game at noon so it's more normal scheduling and the older folks returning can get home at a reasonable hour (daylight), and also so they can schedule alumni events after the game.
Is the Mudbowl over now that SAE has gotten shitcanned?
Good Question.
If I knew this was waiting for me I would never come home...
Nope, I'm in SAE and it's on for next year
Well that's good. Are you guys still allowed to live in that house?
Yeah, we will still be living in the house. We are one of the few fraternities on campus that actually owns our own house (most lease). So, even though we got in trouble with IFC they cannot take our house away from us thank god.
On a somewhat-related note, does anyone know when the hockey team's schedule is generally announced? I ask because I would like to get back to Ann Arbor for a weekend where I can catch a football game and two hockey games at Yost. The past few years there was at least one weekend like that. From looking at the football schedule, the weekends which could potentially have home games for both sports are the Minnesota, Purdue, Nebraska and Ohio State football weekends.
According to the news releases for the last few years, the schedules have been announced between June 8 and June 16.
Thank you for this; I've been wondering this as well. Depending on the scheduling, I'd love to get back to A2 this fall, or even winter for just hockey. But also, given that I've just moved back to Anchorage (hence the "in Alaska" part of my user name), I want to see when we're going to be in Fairbanks, so I can start planning for a trip up there.
(WT, if you're reading this, I just totally outed myself. But I don't post anything on here I would be ashamed about others seeing.)
If you go to the other teams' webpages you can piece together the schedule.
This is a good theory, but it works only if the other team releases its schedule before Michigan releases its own. Fairbanks didn't release its 2010-11 schedule until June 17 of last year, and it hasn't released its 2011-12 schedule yet either.
Michigan is notorious for being the last university to release it's schedule. It works with Michigan. Of course there a couple hold outs but you can predict what the games are since alaska-Fairbanks tends to be early in the season as a team building trip.
Ugh less drinking time. At least that will be the night of the annual Halloween game at Yost. I am hoping to get my friend and I to go as the Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg dick in a box guys.
