PSA: US-23 between Dundee and Milan is closed

Submitted by UMxWolverines on September 11th, 2021 at 7:42 AM

FYI if you are coming from the south to the game today US-23 between Dundee (M-50) and Milan (Plank Rd) is closed. It may be closed for a couple weeks the news said due to an overheight truck hitting a railroad bridge a couple weeks ago, and they just inspected it last night and it has more damage than they thought.

Your best bet to avoid dirt roads is take M-50 West to Dennison Rd North, Redman Rd East, Wabash St left, and Main St right which turns into Plank to get back on 23. Or if thats too busy make a left onto Platt then right onto Willis and get back on 23.

So. . . hit bridge a couple weeks ago, last night they inspected. Timely. Let's hope it's more like, 'further inspection revealed.' Something that offers more confidence in officials concerned.

Alternatively, if you are coming straight from the Toledo area in particular, you might want to try I-75 to I-275 to I-94 west - there is construction on I-275, but it isn't unbearable. It's the long way around, to be sure, but nothing is completely shut down. If you really want to take the scenic route, you can also get off US-23 in Dundee and head east to Ida-Maybee Road, then get on Palmer and start the long drive north - Palmer becomes Rawsonville Road, which eventually meets I-94 at the Wayne-Washtenaw County line, putting you about 15 miles east of where you need to be.

Between GPS in cars and smart phone GPS, the folks coming up from the south should be in good shape. Allow a lot of extra time to get to Ann Arbor-good luck and Go Maize (& Blue)!
