PSA: IMG Radio Broadcast tonight at 6:50PM

Submitted by Bluegriz on June 25th, 2019 at 10:18 AM

Posting this in case anybody else has had enough listening to ESPN and is unaware a better option exists.

Mute your TV, and listen to Brian Boesch calling the game instead. It's the Michigan 'homer' broadcast. He knows the team well and provides the info and stats you care about as a Michigan fan. I think Brian does a great job. I'm curious if others feel the same (I don't listen to baseball much). Tonight Brian's broadcast starts at 6:50PM.

Last night the time delay between my TV broadcast and the radio broadcast (streamed through WTKA The Ticket iPhone app) the was 10-15 seconds but with my DVR/pause button I lined up the broadcasts using the clang sound of a foul ball, which you can easily hear on both broadcasts. Once aligned, mute your TV.

I've also listened to previous games via streaming from mgoblue.com through a laptop. So there are options.

It's so much better.

To be honest last night's game felt super Michigan skewed on ESPN already. I felt like I was getting fluffed the whole time with all the talk about what a great school we have, how great the players are, etc. I don't really remember many mentions about Vanderbilt stuff

Yeah, there was a Michigan recruiting pitch in the middle innings about how great the school is and why would you not want to go to Michigan and all that jazz. Plus Karl Ravech is pretty damn good at his job of calling national telecasts of MLB games. This is pretty much the polar opposite of the dingbats calling the Corvallis regional games.

Regardless, it's nice to have options and I can't fault anybody for wanting to listen to our guy.

ESPN 3 has a "surround" broadcast with the stadium sounds and no announcers (also no commercials). I watched that last night and it was fairly relaxing.

Great idea. I do this for football and realize how much Brandy misses, but I still love him and Dierdorf more than makes up him.

I streamed the first 2 innings from the office on the Watch ESPN website (or whatever the desktop site is called). The stream had no announcers (big plus), you could easily hear the fans and sounds of the game (also big plus) but every pitch was shown from ump-camp (big minus).

I actually like the ump-cam as a replay view - I never really played baseball and I can't afford tickets behind home plate, so it's a view I wouldn't otherwise see - but it's definitely not a great live angle. Too shaky, plus they have to do a hard cut to the broadcast angle as soon as a ball is hit.

Brian's been crushing it. For all those out there who like good play-by-play, I'd mute the screen and tune in to IMG. I did for the TTU2 game and it was great. Bonus: it saves you from the awkward interviews with anyone but Bakich.

Ako "flashes the leather" was one I hadn't heard in awhile. Some people have the ability to use jargon naturally in a way that makes you feel like an insider when you know you aren't, kinda like Rounders.

I have Dish Network. I'd certainly like to listen to the home announcers, but it's so annoying trying to sync the sound because of the stupid delay with a television broadcast.

It is also on Westwood One, which in Maryland is carried by CBS Sports Radio. Good to know if you're going to be on the road for any portion of the game.

Sorry for maybe an obvious question...

is the station 1050 in/around Ann Arbor? I’ll be in my car for first hour, have been struggling to find the over-air station
