Probable reason for lack of bigger passing attack this year: JJ McCarthy’s shoulder
According to Sam Webb on the pregame show, JJ admitted this week that his shoulder was bothering him a bit during the season and especially affected him on deep throws. This makes a little bit of sense in relation to the talk before the season about throwing it around more and not actually doing so.

I believe he also said it was feeling better the last couple games. Don't recall where I read that.

I thought JJ said it during one of the on field post game interviews but I could be mistaken.

If true, I hope he can get this resolved in the off-season, since he missed spring ball in 2022 for the same reason. I hope it doesn't nag at his career.

with 20 TDs and just 3 INTs, just imagine if he was 100% healthy

21 TDs and 2 INTs?

Did we not all know this? It was mentioned in a telecast a few times. AC joint strain, IIRC. Likely why his running game was also kept in the garage mid-season.

I believe you are correct. That was my first though when ready the post.

Wondering why he didn’t run more tonight, this makes sense

For a first year rookie regardless of the bowl and lack of TE I'm proud of him.

Poor passing designs is probably a bigger reason..

Has a hell of a lot more to do with the scheme and receivers not being able to get open or find the seams in the zone. We run to the spot the plays says to and if it’s not open we are doomed.

If true, another botch for the Michigan doctors…

Excuses excuses- same Michigan bullshit result.
