Predictions for Mich/Ohio bball

Submitted by goblue85 on

A big game tomorrow down in snake pit Columbus at 130 pm CBS.  Michigan will be looking for its first win in Columbus since 2003 and be looking at its best start ever with a win at 17-0.  This game will be tough but I have a feeling Burke will really play well in his hometown.  This is a game that will have to play really well on defensive end and need to outrebound this club.  We just need to want it more and grab tough road win is always big in the Big Ten.  They will be up for us since its rivalry game.  I trust Belien and boys in this one.

By all logical evaluations Michigan should win this game and win it fairly easily.  OSU has not been playing terribly well of late and we have (Nebraska game notwithstanding).

However.......I fear this is the type of road game in the B1G that is VERY difficult to win.  OSU is going to be playing desparate and they will have an unbelievably fired up sell-out crowd behind them.  I forsee a very tight and physical game the whole way but with the game in Columbus I think they'll get the benefit of the close calls and we'll get several key players in foul trouble.  Don't be shocked if Burke gets whistled for a charge (or two) and ends up on the bench for the first time this season.  And if he does get two quick fouls it will change how he can attack the basket during our offensive sets.

My call - Michigan get's it first loss of the season 76-72.  But I sure wouldnt complain at all if my ability to predict basketball games was as good as my ability to predict if certain offensive lineman are going to turn pro.

Won't be surprised to see it go either way...I'll say the good guys win 68-67. If Ohio wins by some chance...it will be double digits...tough playing on the road, this is a big game for us.

On a neutral court I'd pick Mich by 20. At OSU considering the fact that B1G officials are so easily (and amateurishly I might add) swayed by crowds, I see this one getting a bit hairy but I think we ultimately pull it out.

OSU is a seriously flawed team with only one scoring threat. We have so many weapons, including the best player on the floor. Mich by 8.

I live in the Snake Pit...tickets r hard to find but i purchase 2 off of Stubhub, me and my 9 yr old(Future Lady BB Wolverine) r  ready.....we have our Maize and Blue #16 Jerseys and we r gonna witness a beat down.....We'll be in the rafters supporting the Wolverines. But the one thing that always scares me is the long walk to the car with Michigan gear, amongst rapid O$U fans.......Ive got bail money ready for this one.....

 16.4

By the numbers, it promises to be a close game certainly. If we can keep DeShaun Thomas in check and find ways around what is statistically the best defense they've faced to date, the Wolverines can win this one, but like most Big Ten road game this season, it would not be because it was easy. If the offense can find a groove and keep Smith, Ross and Craft well-guarded, I could see a 74-69-ish sort of game, in favor of the Wolverines, but with the stats being comparable in many respects, we'll definitely need to be playing our best basketball to take this one on the road.

this game will be rough no matter which way it goes. osu will come ready to play and they'll be fired up by the crowd. i think this stays neck and neck until the end, but i think burke will also play an amazing game, and will ultimately be the difference.

I think Michigan gets off to a slow start, and OSU leads by 3 at the half.  But Michigan comes out firing in the second half, and shuts down Thomas.  OSU can't find another go-to-guy in the 2nd half, and Michigan pulls away, winning 71-62.

like those really annoying how-the-f-do-they-keep-hitting-those shots and they'll be up by 5-10 for parts of the 2nd half. I think we'll pull it out though but not by much

1. Burke doesn't need to score 20+.  He may get it, but I hope he plays like he knows he doesn't need to score that much.

2. Morgan/Hardaway/Burke will help the freshmen keep their composure.

3. Stauskas hot off the dribble would be great to see.

4. Quality minutes from Levert.

EDIT:

5. ?????

6. Profit

but gets things going late in the 2nd to fend off the cheaters in Columbus.

and Stauskas epmhasizes the "as" in his name when he B.A.s the OSU student section after he slams down an alley oop from Burke.

it should be noted that duke is definitely going to lose to NC State today (K never uses his bench so now that one starter is injured he's got no one ready to contribute during this game).

so, if Michigan wins, hello #1.

in enemy territory and my wife bought me tickets to the game for Christmas. I can't wait to see the BBall team in action. I hope we annihilate them. The radio here in Cbus is talking about them rushing the court if they win. What a joke.

i hope michigan can pull off the win!!! lets hope n.c state is the only team in red to storm the court this weekend.

sidenote-pittsburgh is in OT with marquette after hitting a buzzer beating 3 to bring the game to overtime. pitt already has a strong win over 19th ranked georgetown and could pull off another quality win.

Anyone catch the shellacking wisky gave Illinois today? Playing on the road no matter where (save for northwestern) is brutal.

I really think it will be close, however, the chance that we lose by 10 or so is very very real. I think the likelihood that they win by 10 or more is greater than our chances of winning by 10 or more due to the road factor as much as it pains me to say.

Prediction - 69-62 good guys
