Potential impacts of Leonhard not being retained at Wisconsin for UM

So obviously the players at UW wanted Leonhard but they went with Fickell. This could affect us in a postive way. DT Rod Pierce decommitted from UW tonight and he has UM at the top of his list. We are also interested in DT Jamel Howard who decommitted last week.

And finally, might this provide some more smoke about Braelon Allen transferring here? I think he would be the perfect complement to DE next year and both could get 15-20 touches a game. Allen said as long as Leonhard is at UW, so is he. And that will not be the case anymore.

Lets just keep loading up the D-Line each year. That is a direct path to success right there. Kenneth Grant is likely to be a good one and Mason Graham is already a dude. Would love to see it happen again.

I’m not sure why so many ppl think Allen is a legitimate transfer possibility to us. This was all a rumor that Allen himself, said was not true. The only quote that could suggest he could transfer is him saying ‘I’ll be here (Wisconsin) as long as Jim Leonhard is here.’ That says nothing about Michigan.

Don’t get me wrong, I think he’d be a great addition. If there is some additional smoke, then we can fantasize about Thunder and Lightning next year. As of now, I don’t get the belief around here about this.

I wonder if Wisconsin notoriously also being sticklers for credits will help Allen’s chances of transferring. Also, he enrolled early from what I recall and is very young for a sophomore, so I wonder if that also has any bearing.

Did I miss an announcement that Leonhard has parted ways with UW? I know he was passed over for HC in favor of Fickell, but he's still the DC until Fickell fires him, no? And given the comments I've seen so far, it's not clear that's a given.

I like Stokes. But he probably only has 1/2 the playbook available to him and will only be a sophomore. Would love Allen to come. He should be able to transfer as Wisky is a similarly rigorous school and he would enter as a junior. So he shouldn't lose too many credits or be forced to retake multiple classes - which is the real reason we don't get transfers. You can only transfer 60 credits ,and if some don't transfer, and your scholarship won't cover all that is needed for a degree, leaving you to pay your own way a 5th year, why would you transfer to UM? But he may like the Fickle hire.  I wouldn't put stock in his allegiance to Leonhard.

First and foremost we need to lock up Minter, McDonald was always going back to the nfl. If we somehow can’t then I’d be all for Clinkscale taking it over. He knows the D inside and out, which I think we can all agree needs no changing.

If we can get QB Brady Drogosh to flip from Cincinnati, that would be a great way to alleviate missing out on Moore in 2023. He’s a Michigan fan but it seems like we started actually recruiting him hard only after we missed out on Moore and at that point he was solid with Cincinnati. But since Fickell has left, maybe we can pry him away. Drogosh has risen to be a 4* in the composite and just won the Michigan Division 2 State Championship with 250 yards passing, 2 passing TDs, 150 yards rushing, and 3 rushing TDs
