Pizza Pizza Bowl Open Thread
The highly anticipated Pizza Bowl has arrived. Those of us that are already tired of our new toys and are suffering a one day college football withdraw are frothing at the mouth and are ready for this blockbuster.
No NFL tonight, so instead of Minnesota @ Philadelphia, we get FIU and Toldeo.
I have Toledo with 28 confidence points in the ESPN mgoblog pool.
Who do you have?
Anybody by chance enjoying a Little Cesaers pizza currently? Toppings? Breadsticks?
Over/Under for attendance of 10,000?
December 26th, 2010 at 8:10 PM ^
a $5 Hot N' Ready from Little Ceasars
December 26th, 2010 at 8:59 PM ^
Just saw the Little Cesars commercial. Did you get a second Hot'N'Ready for free? If not, you got ripped.

For properly titling this thread. The fact that the bowl committee hasn't seen fit to properly name their bowl game is their error.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:29 PM ^
Are Clive Owen and Naomi Watts alums?
December 26th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
Before I realized it wasn't the team MSU played coming back to Ford Field.

I was wondering this too and after 15 minutes or so looking through wikipedia and the school's website still have no answer. 90% of the students are from Florida.
This surprised me: it is the 15th largest university in the country, with over 40,000 students.

Toledo travels well. I'm going with the over: 11K in attendance.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:32 PM ^
9,997 Under.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
Price is Right rules.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:54 PM ^
I'll take 1 Bob.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
Come on down! You're the next contestant on the Price Is Right!

was a huge win for the pizza bowl
December 26th, 2010 at 8:40 PM ^
For the Champ Sports or Insight.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:31 PM ^
The real reward of this game might be the free swag they get for going...
Gift Suite ???
A Timely watch
Leather duffel bag
Commemorative football
If curious about other bowls:

Also, I have Toledo with 25 confidence points. Jhackney, hope Christmas treated you well as your mgoblog pool is not treating me well.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:36 PM ^
X-mas wishes to you too. I got a kindle and one of those one cup coffee makers. FWIW- MGoBlog.com has a .99 cent monthly subscription fee for the most hardcore MGoJunkies.
As for the pool...I am 135th...Go Toledo!
December 26th, 2010 at 10:58 PM ^
and FWIW, Brian wanted it to be free but Kindle has a minimum 99c fee
December 26th, 2010 at 11:01 PM ^
No problem! I hope Brian makes some moolah off it. It was the first thing I looked up when I got it. I also wonder if that 99 cent minimum changed. I just got the "current issue" of Slate today for 49 cents.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:32 PM ^
Hopefully the teams are more prepared than the production crew is.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
Audio Fail. Illitch should have thrown in for microphones.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:58 PM ^
ESPN=Pathetic for still not fixing the problem.
December 26th, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
I like the radio feed as audio. I also like the hair of FIU's QB. Very Brady-esque.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:05 PM ^
I also see a slight resemblance to Sunshine as well if the hair was combed.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:02 PM ^
I hear Brandon is at this game right now and will be deciding after Jan 1 whether to ever order a Little Casears pizza over the new-improved Dominos product.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:07 PM ^
Will that hurt the toppings process?
December 26th, 2010 at 9:07 PM ^
Uhm, yeah.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:15 PM ^
That crowd could not look less interested. Sad pizza.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
I bet they thought they were seeing a Vikings game again. I would also bet a couple of them are holding out thinking this is the opening act.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
Told them they were on Sunday night football.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:27 PM ^
Checks picks...
Wooo Toledo!! 7-0!!
December 26th, 2010 at 9:29 PM ^
For your prediction of 7-0 to stay that way... ;-)
December 26th, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
The FIU O-Line is turrible.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
Excitement. Wee!
December 26th, 2010 at 9:39 PM ^
I'm not sure the Vikings would be any better.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:46 PM ^
Vikings would be less interesting. And as a bonus, no talk about Favre. Yet.
December 26th, 2010 at 9:56 PM ^
Touching to be down, two feet in for a completion, and the challenge system are the best JC Pearson could come up with for NCAA rule changes? Think big JC, think big. How about playoffs, clear and cinsistent enforcement of the rules, outlawing picking up so many recruits and hoping some fail out or cutting upperclassmen. He also keeps calling the players "big boys". Stop it JC. Try young men, it makes you sound more credible as a commentator.
December 26th, 2010 at 10:01 PM ^
JC also has a fierce start on an afro. I hope he becomes a trend setter for ESPN employees and possibly the rest of society.
December 26th, 2010 at 10:13 PM ^
...was yesterday...
December 26th, 2010 at 10:14 PM ^
+1 because you made me think of the Beatles song and to get over the notorious 28,000 point hump.
December 26th, 2010 at 10:57 PM ^
I've heard that's the toughest point to reach. MGoPoints supposedly become easy to get after that.
December 26th, 2010 at 10:13 PM ^
Is it bad that the number one reason I look forward to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl is for the cow commercials?
December 26th, 2010 at 10:24 PM ^
No. Their commercials are good. Most of the time better than the bowl game they sponsor.
December 26th, 2010 at 11:01 PM ^
Makes me long for the Poulan Weed-Eater Bowl...
December 26th, 2010 at 10:27 PM ^
As I am watching this game, it occurs to me that I saw both of these teams in person earlier this season. Back in September, I saw FIU play at Maryland when I was in DC for a week. I also drove down from Ann Arbor to catch some mid-week MAC-tion, Toledo vs Bowling Green, last month.
This raised two questions in my mind...
1. Am I the only person in the country that can claim to have attended games of both of these teams this season (prior to tonight?)
2. Do I need to enroll in a 12 step program due to my obvious college football addiction?
December 26th, 2010 at 11:03 PM ^
From Ford Field...so you can say you saw each team twice.
December 26th, 2010 at 10:41 PM ^
Is this game worth watching? The score line has me afraid of a potential blow out/precious wasted Sunday night minutes.
