Parking @ Penn State
I realize there was a thread on this earlier in the week but I figure people are refining their plans at this point.
I plan on making the trip this weekend with friends and acquaintances for the first time and have learned that most of the parking is University controlled at $40 a pop. We were lucky to get passes from a Penn Stater for the early $10 rate so we will be entering this mess. From looking at the map, I think we will be coming and leaving from the West via Atherton St. My question is if anyone knows what lots they will be tailgating in? It looks like lots 11 and 12 are best suited for this, but I have heard that 20-21 are easier outs after the game.
If anyone has insights on strategies for a good experience balanced by not sitting in traffic for hours after the game, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

We just drove right in to the lot next to the stadium in 2006, probably got there about 11-12 for the evening game, had no problems whatsoever. Incredibly nice tailgaters, you'll probably be offered food and beers and conversation from Penn Staters all day.
Really, can't say enough good things about the trip to State College. Had a blast.

Thanks, we are getting excited! Everything down to the drive through the rolling hills/mountains and fall colors. Hopefully the team plays well to cap off a perfect fall Saturday.

I went in 2006 also, and I remember it being an absolutely beautiful drive from Michigan, like you described. As far as parking goes, it is pretty much a giant stadium with massive fields all around it to park in.

Lots #11-12 are just as easy to escape to the West. We will have about 20 of us in Lot #12. We were surrounded by Penn Staters last game with no troubles. Friendly and good spirited. Good luck.

I am going to push for this lot. Grabbing lunch and watching some football early on and looking to make an entrance around 2:30. 8 of us, hopefully all wearing Maize!

We ended up camping out in their union for an hour or so to watch the early games, they had a couple big TV's with chairs set up in the lobby. Also, don't miss the Creamery.

That should help with navigation. U.S. 220 East runs into 322 East (N. Atherton St) and a left on East Park Ave. That easy.

4 of us are taking off from Michigan Friday to see Pearl Jam play in Pittsburgh that night, then were off to PSU for the game on Saturday... Still looking for 4 tickets and a place to crash on Saturday... any suggestions or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, GO BLUE
