Our 3 man front does not seem very fearsome
Not sure I am sold on our 3 man fronts. We are not getting much pressure on the QB and we were getting killed on runs to the boundary. I don't know if we have not learned enough, personnel is not correct or it's an alignment issue. I know one thing for sure is that outside of Mouton, our backers get caught in the wash a lot. Teo from ND was making plays everywhere, that group seemed much more active side to side. I don't know if the extra man in front allowed them to make plays.

Slight correction, To your statement, "he is thinking "gee given the apocalyptic secondary situation I have, i'd much rather give up 8 yard under routes than 70 yard bombs over the top of my ridiculously inexperienced secondary", add to the end, "like last year."

with that said, did anyone notice ND went with 6 blockers on the final play, making it 4 receivers vs 8 defenders. That was kind of crazy imo.

I've been saying this since the notre dame game last season - GREG ROBINSON IS A F-ING MORON and we will never be big10 title contenders, much less national championship contenders, with him as our defensive coordinator.
First of all, in all my life of watching football, at any level, high school, college, pro, lingirie league, whatever, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A DEFENSE PUT LESS PRESSURE ON A QUARTERBACK. 60% of the time Chist threw the ball, he was throwing it out of complete boredom. He could've literally sat in the pocket for an entire minute without getting sacked. In 60% of passing situations we were essentially rushing two DT's and roh against six blockers. It clearly, cleary wasn't working. And we continued to do it. Right up until the 60 yard 30 second drive at the end. It was a complete f-ing joke.
And what's worse, with our 8 men in coverage, going up against 4 recievers, someone was ALWAYS, ALWAYS OPEN. I've never seen anything like it in my entire life. We've got 5 guys in underneath zone covering one guy while three guys are streaking man to man against our back three. I mean, DO SOMETHING. Get Jibreel Black or Herron in there for Van Bergen. Blitz one of those eight guys in coverage, one of those eight guys that are covering four recievers. If a QB has 40 seconds to throw the ball, it doesn't matter if we have 11 guys in coverage, SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET OPEN.

PRAY that bill stewart gets fired this year and we're able to hire Jeff Kasteel.

and we've beaten 2 quality opponents. Gave up 10 to UConn nad 24 to a better ND squad. Gerg's doing what he can in line w/ RR's direction and w/ what he's got. I liked what I saw given that we've got some young guys out there. Wait till they get some experience and we start bringing in uber recruits.
