Here is some pretty great IU schadenfreude:

83 top-500 players (per @247Sports composite) are committed to B1G teams. Here's each school's share of that load:

Michigan: 21.68%
OSU: 20.48%
PSU: 15.66%
Iowa, Nebraska, N'Western, Purdue: 6.02%
Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Wisco: 3.61%
Indiana: 2.40%
MSU: 1.20%
Rutgers: 0%

What I was GOING to post was that apparently - much like the millionaire bemoaning the flat tire on their Ferrari - OSU fans are freaking out over the impending loss of not 1 but 2 top tier running backs in the 2020 class.

Apparently both Bijan Robinson (RB from AZ #20 overall) and Jaylan Knigton (top 100 APB from FLA) have gone from OSU “locks” to almost surely NOT verballing to OSU in the last week.  They have had to settle for only (another) top 170 OLB adding to their top 4 class.

Part of me thinks it may be the fact that they threw over 70 times in a game on a team featuring 2 future NFL RB’s being an influence.........but I HOPE that Robinson (rumored to USC now) had a chat with Urban Meyer about both of their futures.....

In other news..... MSU lost another 3 star (DT) to Cincinnati last Friday and currently have ONE recruit ranked in the top 500 nationally.   That represents 1.2% of such recruits committed to the B1G ahead of only Rutgers at 0.0%. (Credit Scott Bell Twitter). I know Marky D loves to coach ‘em up but this is a big step down even for MSU.

Mark uses the lack of stars though like fuel for his team.  He plays the "dizrespct" card like a genius which is why their team of rejects and also-rans (from a recruiting standpoint) play BALLS OUT when facing us.

Give the devil his due.  He may suck donkey dick when it comes to landing recruits but that fucker is Einstein when it comes to motivating his team to play at their very best against when facing Michigan.

4-6 years ago, back when Hoke ran the show, I think Dantonio doing his Spartan Walk the way he did would’ve worked and maybe messed a little bit with Michigan’s psyche going into the game. Let’s be honest: the program as a whole was just not as mentally tough then as it is now. And it just wasn’t as good, period. You didn’t have a take no shit leader like Devin Bush who talked the talk AND walked the walk. A team that could match the physicality MSU put on in this game.

Don’t poke the bear, Dantonio.

While this is true, their recruiting is down this year even for them.  They usually have a decent number of guys in the 300-600 range, which even though the Starz crew doesn't like to admit it, a lot of good CFB players come from that low 4 star to high 3 star range.  Particularly so at MSU since every third guy manages to get a 6th year of eligibility.  They usually mix in a few highly ranked guys (almost always from MI/OH - Burbridge, Scott, King, Corley, Williams, Barnett and Dobbs).  The 2016 class was a major outlier - his best by composite ranking but suffered attrition for several well documented reasons.

This year they're missing on a lot of the OSU pass overs in Ohio (UK and UC appear to be a big reason why) and are basically in on 2 of the top 20 in Michigan, which is definitely not normal.  A lot of those guys are also already committed so "It's only July" doesn't really hold up - hell, Michigan's class is probably going to be 90%+ full if Paige commits on Tuesday.

I'm not saying their program is about fall into oblivion, but if Dantonio does retire in the next couple of years with a couple of classes like this to leave his successor...could be some dark times.

If they are doing it for suspense they must be willing to risk losing subscribers because I went over to Bucknuts and they have about 8 threads ripping everyone from the coaches, 247 staff for misleading them, and the kids / bagmen that must be involved.

That is where I saw USC mentioned and maybe I got overexcited imagining the Angaar and conspiracy theories that would be generated if both Robinson and Meyer ended at USC in 2020.
