OT: Zoltan Gets Some Press
Everyone's favorite Space Emperor From Space delivered a big performance on Sunday including a 65 yard punt in overtime that helped lead the Patriots to a big win. He is getting some recognition in the Boston Globe:
Ever the perfectionist, Mesko wasn’t celebrating his performance too enthusiastically.
“I’ll take it,’’ he said. “If I dissect it, there’s lots of things to improve on.’’
Slater has noticed Mesko’s attention to detail and has seen numerous booming punts from the rookie, whom the Patriots selected in the fifth round out of Michigan this year.

All hail the Space Emperor From Space!
Happy to see Zoltan doing well in the NFL. Even happier to see Hagerup getting through his early season jitters and booming punts as well.

If only we could get the same from Gibbons.

Getting press is easy when you're the Emperor of all Space.
Its great to see Zoltan paying off for the Patriots. Thanks for the post.

Simmons tweeted about the game and he said something like ".... MVP: Mesko!!" at the end.
It was even re-tweeted by michigan football (which I thought was a little aggressive - because, you know - he is a sportswriter with no ties to the university).
Kid can punt. I wish he could also kick and still had one year of eligibility left....

Nothing concerning the exalted Space Emperor of Space could be off topic on MGoBlog.

Zoltan replied, "It came down."

Advanced NFL Stats called this the punt of the year:
When the ball came to rest on the Baltimore 19 yard line, the Patriots had gained the upper hand with a 0.54 WP. The punt was worth +0.21 Win Probability Added (WPA), an impact extremely rare for a punt that neither results in a long return nor a fumble.

Am I the only one who thinks of Hal's brother from Infinite Jest whenever I see or hear of Zoltan?

Or is Space Emperor the exception? I thought there was a team rule on the Patriots that rookies are not allowed to be interviewed or give quotes of any kind to the media??
