Yeah, he's still shocked that his first manuscript submission - "Mommy Cries and Daddy Hits her Because you Wet the Bed" - wasn't accepted by the publisher. He's hoping his latest work - "Daddy Smells Like Scotch and the Babysitter" - does better...

I used to think that, then my daughter gave me an idea for a children's book and I started trying to write one (not to be published, just something she could illustrate and enjoy). I found it incredibly difficult to do well. Granted I'm an engineer and my writing is typically limited to architectural specifications, but it gave me a healthy respect for a well written picture book.

When he was a senior my wife and I bought a copy of one of his books. We got him to sign it at at the Dekers Banquet. It is awesome seeing our students branch out in new areas.

for my toddler nephew (though his parents dress him in the Montreal garb, since that's where they live), who's not quite old enough to read it.

Tangent: Wanted to paste in the cover (featuring a Red Wings player) for those who haven't read the article, but ever since I got a new, high-tech computer, I can't paste in images anymore.  Is it the browsers, or the technique?  I always get a Latin paragraph in the preview box and can't get rid of it.  The Hateful "Edge" won't even give me a "properties" selection in the drop-down menu.  It was so easy on my primitive older computer.

[If anyone reads this far down, advice would be appreciated.]
