OT: Where Does Cutler End up?
The Denver Broncos finally decided to give in and give Jay Cutler what he wants. ESPN has their odds here http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcwest/0-3-1884/Where-could-Cutler-end-up-… I personally would love to see Cutler in a Lions uniform. Cutler is young and still has a lot of room to improve. Where do you see him ending up?
ESPN is trying to convince the Lions to draft Stafford.
Yeah, Kiper was really high on Andre Ware, too.
Somewhat OT Stafford rant:
IF the Lions need a quarterback to stop sucking
AND IF the Lions don't take a quarterback
THEN they will suck next year
AND they will have another chance to draft a quarterback
Is Matt Stafford an ABSOLUTE FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK? No? Then the Lions can and should pass on him and use this first pick for a player much more likely to contribute. Kiper acts like if the Lions pass on Stafford there will NEVER EVER EVER be another chance to take a quarterback as supremely godlike and talented as Stafford, when in fact there are Matt Staffords in every single draft. There will be another quarterback in next year's draft. Stafford, to me, has all the red flags of being a workout dazzler and a subpar field general.
He has the same agent as Calvin Johnson so I could see that happening. Lions have 2 first round picks so they definitely have something to offer.
Washington
I agree Washington always likes making the big move and Jason Campbell has done nothing to prove he is a legit starting QB, they need a game changer and Dan Snyder would be more than happy to cough up that 13th pick for him.
Or Chicago. Word is the Browns want him, and they have something the Lions don't have to offer Denver in return- A decent QB. Trade Quinn or Anderson plus a high draft pick and you give Denver a better deal than two high draft picks, since they only have Simms as a backup. And Chicago has talent on defense to offer in addition to a draft pick, another area of concern for Denver. The lions likely only have draft picks to offer, and they are not in a position to offer many of those, plus have almost no talent to offer either.
the Jets will get him
I'd trade the first pick for him. It's better than what you'd be getting if you drafted Stafford first overall. On the other hand I would much rather trade our lower first rounder for him and draft a tackle with the first pick. I just don't want Stafford, is basically what I'm saying. I feel like he will have a career arc similar to Alex "Small hands" Smith.
the first pick in the draft. Too much money wrapped up in someone you think could be good. At the first pick you have to be almost certain and its can hurt you for many years if you try going big with the first pick and it blows up in ur face because its a bust.
Both have top notch interior D-lineman, both need a qb. Jenkins or one of the Williams brothers, a first round pick, and probably another 2nd round or a future conditional around the 1-3 range might be enough to get a deal done, although I would like more for him.
We'll take whatever we can get. It's amazing how Willingham-esqeuly Cutler has squandered the support and good will of Bronco fans. Having ignored owner Pat Bowlen's phone calls for 10 days has set some people OFF. Everyone rightly sees it as a dick move.
In terms of predicting what will happen, JMacD has shown that his career at the Pats is a pretty good indicator of his taste in qbs. For example, he's brought in Chris Simms, someone that Belichek almost signed a year ago. He seems to like the intelligent-but-not-really-physically gifted type.
What would be ideal, of course, for this UM alum is if the Broncos can woo Matt Gutierrez off the Patriots practice squad.
THAT would be awesome.
is where he lands.
It's projected we won't even take a QB as the first pick. Yahoo says were gonna be taking an OL.
I just don't see an OL out there worthy of the number 1 overall pick. What separates Jason Smith from Eugene Monroe, or Monroe from Oher. We can go OL at 20 or 33. I hope they take Curry but to be honest would rather see the Cutler pick than on OT at numero uno.
is a choking "Dawg." He played terribly against Alabama and Florida. Both have fast defenses, and unmasked Stafford as an impostor. Stafford can't read and react fast enough against fast college defenses; WTF will he do against even a mediocre NFL defense?
I think the Lions have a better chance than people think, because Denver will probably be very petty and vindictive about this whole thing. What better way to be petty and vindictive than to trade someone to an 0-16 team? Especially if that team has the first overall pick to give you in return.
As much of a diva as Cutler appears to be, I would take him over an unproven Stafford anytime. This trade looks good on both sides.
