OT - Two Florida Police Officers Killed

Submitted by Blazefire on

Nothing to do with Michigan or football at all, but still a tremendous tragedy.

You have to wonder if the suspect will elect to end it himself, or allow the state of Florida to execute him, because either way, that is one dead, dead, dead man.

No idea why someone would kill two cops if they only had minor offenses (high on PCP? something in the car? something in their past that hadn't been caught yet?).  Even more terrible that one wife is pregnant and the other has four young kids.

I would be willing to bet that his "minor offenses" were failure to appear. THEN...he decided to drive a car without a license plate (because that's a good way to maintain a low profile when you're wanted by the cops) and THEN he decided that what would make matters WAY better was to carry a loaded gun in the cabin of the car. Because taking something like a failure-to-appear or not finishing up your probation and amping it way the ***k up to Jeebus by having an illegal weapon always makes things better, right? And THEN (<--!!!!) to think "Well, shit...I'm looking at 10 years now, might as well put some whipped cream and a cherry on this thing!) and SHOOTING the cops...

Seriously....suicide. If you find yourselves having thise thought patterns, kill yourself. If you read this story and think (even for a MOMENT), "Yeah...I'd probably do that..." then suicide is a GREAT life-decision. Monumental upgrade. Maybe you even want to be polite and go out in the woods to blow your head off. I'm assuming that the rest of us have spent WAY too much time cleaning up your crap already.

I think there is a certain validity to questioning the actions and status of police within the moral society.

However, doing so in a thread about two young men being killed senselessly probably isn't the appropriate venue.

im not saying they deserved to die, but im not going to feel any worse for these two than i did for amadou diallo, sean bell, or little ayanna.

You do realize that you're embracing (not just sympathizing...but giving it a full-out body hug) the same mentality of...like....the Klan, right?

You're committing to an intellectual make-out session with a syllogism that a five-year-old could defeat.

You use politically motivated websites detailing isolated incidents involving police officers in order to justify your view that it is OK if they are murdered on the job without any apparent provocation.

The guy who shot these cops was black...therefore when someone shoots a black guy, it's okay. Because just like every cop is EXACTLY alike (and since we know that one cop was dirty, that means EVERY cop is dirty)....every black is alike.

And it shouldn't be hard to find this guy. Just go down to the local KFC.

(that's exactly what this dumb motherf*cker is saying)

im not advocating killing police.

im saying that these men arent more worthy of our sorrow than anyone else, particularly those that have been victimized by violence.

I say this with all the love i can muster -- the Internet is not your friend. Obviously, English is not either. Until you get a firmer grasp on it...you should probably avoid things like message boards.

Has been in the Michigan State Police for 24 and a half years. I couldn't imagine how I would feel if I was in these officers families shoes.

These Police officers go out there each and every day, making sure that our streets are safe. They help protect the rights of you and I and any other idiot posting on a message board in this country.

To say that this isn't a tradgedy is absurd.

... and I HATE these sort of posts.  They morph into ones with political overtones, and bring out the passive-aggressive trolls like clockwork.  Or just massive dickwads who wouldn't have the courage to say anything similar in an open forum with their real name/photo attached.

if you could point out to me where i said that police = bad person i would appreciate it.

That would be in every post where you equated an instance of police brutality in the country with two guys in Tampa.

Where, intentionally or not, the talk turns political.  For instance I could say "Gee, regardless of the fact that you may think that it was right for the Senate to end the unemployment benefit extension, you must admit that it is tragic that my buddy will now most likely lose his house."  I am explicitly declaring that I am not making a politically motivated statement, but read between the lines and you can see that I am.  Likewise, the statement made by the OP could ostensibly be taken by all people so inclined to be an expression of solidarity with the families of the fallen troopers, but for people who are not law-and-order types it is difficult to feel too bad for these guys  given  the harassment and degradation that many have suffered at the hands of the police. These people are probably more than willing to support a fallen officer, in the context of a larger discussion.  However, in the context of MGoblog, I have never seen a thread dealing with police brutality (thankfully not).  As far as MGoblog goes concerning police/policed interactions, I have seen one thread (this one) praising fallen officers and offering implicit support for the death penalty.  Therefore, it is reasonable to expect people who challenge the paradigm that the police are there to protect and to serve to speak up here at this time.

My prayers go out to the families.

This is the second police shooting in as many weeks here. A few days ago, two deputies were shot in Polk County while stopping a man on a bicycle. Both are expected to recover but this whole thing is just sad.

possibly.  and the fact that it took 90 minutes for someone to accurately summarize my point supports that thought.

I think it supports my theory that english and the internet are not your friends.
