OT: Tigers July 24
It looks to be another pitching duel today. I like that the Tigers scored early, but the question is will that be their only run of the game? V is pitching well, but his command may cost him later on in the game. I think it's fair to say the Tigers really really need to win this game because tonight.. Eddie Bonine.
Did I actually see the Tigers get a man in from third on a sac fly? Or was I dreaming it up?
No you were definitely dreaming that. The Tigers are actually losing 31-0 and on an inside the park grand slam by Dye, Cabrera tripped over JV and both tore their ACL's.
we're not gonna lose 2-1 in the first game!
I never thought I would be surprised to see a major league hitter successfully execute a sacrifice fly... hopefully Verlander can keep it up and maybe they can score a couple more runs?
should let Verlander pitch the entire game if he keeps the lead. Both teams have had their chances to score. The way Laird runs he should drop the i in his last name.
First of all he's a catcher who normally run like they're dropping a turd, because they're stuck in that position for 2 hours a day. And I always thought he was one of the faster catchers out there.
Oxymoron
Moron.
Guess I set myself up for that one. And I'm impressed with that picture under your name and that catchy little phrase under each of your posts.
Impressive....most impressive.
Verlander is the man.
Now to bring in the seasoned veteran Bonine to cap the doubleheader....
Let's hope Eddie can achieve a quality start. Looking at his stats this year though, it doesn't look good.
8 IP, 8 ER, 16 H
Verlander is an ace.
is a noun that almost describes his ERA.
Adjectives describe, not nouns
focusing on his name, which is a noun.
Don't want to offend the grammar Nazi.
You said his name was a noun that DESCRIBES his ERA. Therefore, it would be an adjective, not a noun.
But a proper name is a noun, is it not? Meaning you are both correct.
Good game, shouldn't have left Verlander in so long but I was glad to see the win.
Verlander is a bonafide ace in this league, he can go 130 pitches every once in a while. Given the situation of two games today, and 4 games in 3 days, it was a good decision to send him to the mound with 110 pitches after 8 innings while having retired 10 straight hitters prior to the 9th. Also, with Bonine pitching tonight, the bullpen will be needed, and Rodney might have to get called on for a save. Its hard to warm up a closer twice in one day, and we need him available all series. So, IMHO, a good call by Leyland.
after the 5th inning, when JV was around 80 pitches, that he'd find a way, when the team needs him most, to get thru another 4 innings, save the pen, and get a win vs a heated division rival! What an ACE!!
need to trust their starters longer in games. Handing matters off to the bullpen is RISKY BUSINESS (cue Old Time Rock and Roll).
Now thats more like it!
For DH sweeps. I was just hoping to win the Verlander game and take the sweep. Nice job by Bonine tonight! Props to Clete for drawing that huge walk, and a nice easy effort by Lyon and Rodney in innings 8 and 9. Hopefully, we can finally hit Floyd tomorrow, especially since Jackson deserves run support for a change! Go Tigers!!
IS PURE GRIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just don't know what to make of this team. Nice start to the weekend
Ozzie has to be livid, other than a walk, how in the hell was Thomas going to get that run in.
750 ft home run to deep center.
his name is CLETE and he's a baseball player, and you're going to call him Thomas? There are times when you just HAVE to call a player by his first name. This is one of those times.
Actually his name is SPIKE
Seriously, that's his nickname.
