West Virginia taking on Virginia Tech on ESPN currently tied 0 - 0

Costal Carolina is up 14 - 0 on Georgia St on ESPN2

Illinois takes on Chattanooga at 8:30 on btn

Pittsburgh vs Cleveland coming up on Amazon's Thursday Night Football. I think that Amazon pregame team is the best in the biz. Ryan Fitzpatrick is an American Treasure

That logo in the middle of the Browns’ field is the ugliest thing in the history of ugly.

And the downside of Amazon carrying the game is, its way harder to flip between games bc I need one remote to switch feeds (Roku to FiOS box) and another to switch FiOS channels. I know this is a 3d millenium 1st world problem, but golly dangnab it, someone in authority needs to do something about this.

Recency bias. Pickens catch was unbelievable.  But go back and watch the OBJ catch again. It was a much longer throw (longer route, more ball momentum to corral) it was higher and more behind his head (degree of difficulty) requiring him to jump and bend his body backwards to a greater degree, and was in the endzone in a high leverage situation. He also had tighter coverage to deal with.  In fact the defender drew a PI flag.  Pickens didnt have to jump and wasnt being interferred with.

Some excellent TV on Prime. “Marvelous Mrs Maisel” has won Emmys for best comedy and IMHO is definitely on the short list for best TV shows ever. “The Boys” is a superhero satire with violence, sex and humor that also has Emmy noms and is eminently watchable. Prime’s TV shows and original movies are not quite as good as HBO (GoT/HotD, Succession) but close, and overall way better than Netflix, Apple or Peacock. (Leaving Disney+ aside cuz you can’t compare MCU or Star Wars.)

Also, Prime lets you rent just about any movie ever made, and their rental prices seem as low as any other service.

Why wouldn’t the Steelers have gone for it on fourth and one on the 15 yard line? It seems like a no-brainer. The field goal is the easy part.  getting out of the 15 yard line and only having to go 1 yard is much tougher

Michigan ends their home season.. Senior Day.. hosting Illinois.

Any thoughts about Illinois’ play?   Will they pose a serious challenge to Michigan when they visit on November 19th?

Like any Bret Bielema team, Illinois is going to find a workhorse running back and run him until he can't run anymore. Chase Brown, who is their starter and from my understanding is one of the better backs in the conference, will definitely pose a challenge but is likely going to have a lot of mileage on him by the time Illinois comes rolling in. He's already got 95 rush attempts on the year, so he's getting the ball just under 24 times a game.

I haven't watched an ounce of Illinois football this year, but if Michigan can stop or put a big dent in their run game, Illinois probably won't have much of a chance.

A conversation with a former coworker

Her: "So I know that Ohio State is Michigan's top rival, but who's second?"

Me: "Michigan State for sure."

Her: "Anyone else?"

Me: "Notre Dame some years. Minnesota I guess."

Her: "Really? Because at Illinois we think of Michigan as a pretty major rival..."

Me: "And WE think that's adorable."

It's Friday now, so I've had a chance to cool off.

But the way that Al Michaels talked about the Deshaun Watson case really boiled my blood. Like his CONTRACT was the problem. Like what he did to the OWNERS was the crime. Oh, and never mind that Michaels never actually mentioned what the accusations against Watson actually were... Just that, hey, he's going to counseling, and he only gets to use team-approved massage therapists now. That'll TOTALLY solve the issue.

The whole situation is a disgrace to the NFL. I'm still hoping that something in the legal system forces their hand, and that Watson never plays again.
