OT: Sunday Afternoon MBB Open Thread.

#2 Miami loses yesterday, #4 MSU lost earlier this week and has to play @ OSU.

Game on CBS @ 3:00 p.m.

I genuinely hate to root for OSU, but a win against Sparty helps the Maize and Blue.

Let the dong punching begin.

This is great.  We're virtually assured of a top-5 ranking now, and we may have moved back onto the 1-seed line.

Just as we went through the Gauntlet (TM) a couple weeks ago and dropped two straight, OSU did as well and now MSU has. It's a tough league.

Not that it means much right now, but, Lunardi still has Florida as a 1 seed after today's games. They play ghosts down the stretch. If M wins out and has a good run in the B1G tourney, I'm sure they'll be on the #1 line.

Purdue probably won't go to any postseason tournament, but they're still playing hard for Painter.  They're destroying Northwestern right now.   Our trip to West Lafayette is a potential trap game, coming in between MSU and IU.  Hopefully we'll be ready to go.

I was thinking about this after watching Michigan State lose...

As an illustration of how difficult the Big Ten really has been, consider that the combined winning percentage at home for the Big Ten is 0.777, and compare that to the combined away winning percentage, comprised largely of conference games, of 0.416. Interestingly, however, although the ACC has a similar home record to ours, their winning percentage on the road is 0.371 and the Big East is 0.462 on the road.

As for our own record, the predictive stats would favor 3-1 the rest of the way, with Massey going with near-sure wins at Penn State and at Purdue. TeamRankings still has us as a greay shot to be at least a 4-seed if not higher.

Bottom Line: 1 loss by IU to either Minnesota, Iowa, or Ohio and Michigan controls its desiny to a Big Ten Title and probable/definite number 1 seed
