and I know next to nothing about Star Wars. This possibility interested me and I've watched a lot on it that has given both evidence for and against Darth Jar Jar. My conclusion is that he was meant to be the literal cornerstone of the prequel story but was so hated after 1 that they did away with it. Yet, a lot of the telling footage is still there and there is a lot of redemption being voiced by those that feel they don't deserve the hate. Some writers and actors have tweeted that they're glad some "finally get" the point of such a buffoon charachter as Jar Jar - he was meant to be dismissed so they could have the crazy reveal that never occured. I'm other even a huge SW fan but it makes you wish they would redo the prequels even with the spoiler known. I didn't like them but they would be better with the original idea rather than adding Count Duku (sp) etc. I think it was already known or found out when SW was purchased that Jar Jar was meant to be a sith and it was too good to pass up for Abrams. It really is a great twist that was seemingly abandoned in fear of bad reviews/fan hatred of Jar Jar.

There's obviously a ton of hype on this new Star Wars movie & I'm super excited as well.

I can't recall being an adult and anticipating a single movie so much.

That said, (sorry if this old news or prior post), I think that what will make this movie a huge success beyond special effects, is quite honestly the story.... and the great UM alum storywriter, Lawrence Kasdan.

I enjoyed this commencement speech.
