I'm a Chicagoan until Chicago ends so I say and have always said... F the Deadwings! Goodness, I almost hate Boston as much though if that counts for anything.

Also Pavel looks like Jimmy Neutron!

Did it go in?... I think it did, PLENTY of pucks get tipped. Game 7 Hawks vs Kings OT puck got tipped past. Kings still went on to win the Cup, shit of dip.

We will have fun being the Blackhawks of the NHL thank you. Good luck in the East and rebuilding after this year.

Good luck being the Notre Dame of the NHL.

Ummm yeah but theres nothing you can do about a tipped puck as a goalie. Im assuming you were implying that the red wings arent a skilled team. Your gif would imply that they are just an unlucky team, dipshit.

There's a lot that you can do about tipped pucks as a goalie. There's a lot that you can do about a tipped puck as a defenseman.

The gif doesn't imply anything idiot. The gif shows Seebs scoring the winning goal vs the Wings in game 7 OT. There's nothing to imply. Shit of Dip.

As for following another blog, didn't you join after I did? Go grab me a water rookie.

the team gets respect and has been a bellweather for pro hockey for nearly a 1/4 century.   they have great rivalries, no referees that hand them games, and i don't know that i've ever met a wing-hater.  i'm sure they exist, but when you bump into folks from montreal or toronto (for instance) they don't run the wings down, as indeed i wouldn't do to those storied franchises.

Considering the Wings haven't missed the playoffs in 24 years and a won a handful of cups along the way, and the Hawks (until recently) made the playoffs once between 1997 and 2007, I'd be careful about the walls of the glass house you are residing in around Chicagoland.

It's cute to see how much people don't know about the NHL though. Ownership (just not giving a fk) was the reason Chicago wasn't on TV or doing much the past 2 decades after breaking up a great team.

I'll let you do some searching of the players and teams that they have had. Original 6 team. Loyal fan base even during the dark ages.

Go Hawks. Next you'll be saying that the Pistons are a better organization than the Bulls or same with the Lions.. smh.

I'm a Detroit fan and nobody in their right mind would say the Pistons are a better organization than the Bulls, but if you truly refer to Detroit as the Deadwings than you are quite behind the times. The Wings have been the model organization for the NHL for years and they show no signs of having to, "rebuild" next year as you earlier claimed. They have a collection of young talent in GR, and Detroit for that matter, it's part of the reason the Wings have been able to make the playoffs on such a consistent basis. But sure if you want to be the Chicago fan that chants "Detroit sucks" instead of cheering on their own team then so be it, you're just perpetuating the reputation of shitty Chicago fans.

Let me take a guess here and say that Go Blue, when facing or speaking of The Ohio State Buckeyes/Michigan St./Notre Dame, is often preceded and/or followed by a not so great comment about our bitter rival for most fans. Correct? Would that not translate to other sport rivalries? I'll let that idea sit there, nothing else is needed to be said regarding that. Did I say Detroit sucks or was not a model organization for the NHL or didn't have talent?... Pavel still looks like Jimmy Neutron. Go Hawks, was my original statement. I'm starting to think that complete reading and comprehending isn't a strong point for quite a few people tonight.

By me, the Detroit Red Wings are called the Deadwings. Calling the Buckeyes the "Suckeyes" doesn't take away from their talent or championship ability, correct?

Please read before commenting. I don't really care about the downvoting I really haven't the faintest idea what that even means or does.

That OTHER team that Theo Owns... would have been my answer 2 years ago lol. They actually looked very good towards the end of last season and with the talent this year should contend for the pennant (on paper). Lotta youth but we shall see.

Would say that the Blackhawks has a wall of glass anywhere near their organization. Those contracts are loaded and deserved yet they don't take away from the rest of the team or the cap rising next year. ALSO, I have a feeling that Q and Bowman will be okay with resignings and calling up from the AHL for a few years out.

Detroit looks to have quite a few of the same issues resigning players even with the cap going up 5 million.

I unfortunately don't have CapGeek anymore to prove this, but that's not true at all re: the respective caps. For one thing Chicago was shopping Sharp (not just cuz he was schlupping his teammate's wife) due to his cap hit. The new deals for Kane and Toews are certainly deserved, but depending on how the cap rises it could significantly impact their ability to sign UFAs or re-up Saad without an offer sheet.

The Wings have cap concerns, sure...Howard if he isn't the goalie going forward and Weiss are concerns. But Kronner, Pav and Hank are on good cap hits. Weiss and Ericsson are kinda bad contracts, but don't have a ton of term. And then Franzen could be a problem with cap recapture, but the Hawks have the same problem if/when Hossa retires (unless he retires due to injury). Franzen will most likely get LTIR'd like Pronger/Savard/etc and not be an issue to the cap.

The Blackhawks have done a nice job of drafting (with the benefit of being awful a few years ago and getting top picks) and development, but they are going to have trouble retaining the whole of their core.

Okay regarding the cap. The Blackhawks are at 65 Million and the Wings are at 64. That's the point there. Secondly the hawks have to decide on Sharp, Bickel, Hossa, Seebs. Maybe one of those players is going to go, I doubt if any. Sharp had hints of being shopped to see what was being offered for a younger player. I doubt he goes anywhere. Oduya is probably gone as is Carbomb and Roz. Richards may retire. Saad is only 21, he will be resigned.

I don't see where any core players would be not returnind minus Oduya/Richards. If the cap doesn't go up I'm sure Saad won't sign for 5 million and Kruger won't get 3. We are pretty solid minus the question about the 4 I named earlier. Sharp/Bick/Richards/Hossa. Bickel and AHL player dealt maybe to sign Saad if need be.

It's not about 65 vs 64 it's what makes up those numbers and who is tied up long term, who is still on entry deals etc.

You're flat out wrong if you think that's a better cap situation than the Wings. Not better team, because obviously I'd love to have two starslike Kane and Toews in their prime on the Wings, but the Wings have virtually no choices like the ones you mentioned. We can resign Tatar, Nyquist and the young d- prospects we have fairly easily.

It's a nice problem to have, one of the pitfalls of having a pretty good team.

The 64 and 65 million dollar issues are similar because of the players that we do have locked up and who's not locked up. Yes, Bick/Sharp/Saad/Richards/Hossa are amazing players. But to think that they won't sign at least 3 of them back is crazy. The only choices we have are the 4 that I mentioned and that's just getting rid of one. I'm not saying that the Hawks don't have an issue but I don't see it as a huge issue. Signing our youth will be easy this year and we have some very long contracts out there. Next year it might be even easier. The only people we have to worry about signing are those 4. Maybe Darling for depth.

I'm sure quite a few other teams would love to have these types of issues. LA is getting old, very old. Boston... lord knows about them. Pitt needs defense something bad, same with Washington. Blues look good, Wild look good and Preds are building something nice there. Habs and Rangers and Islanders could be doing something nice there but that was said about Vancouver a few years ago, and until you do... you don't.
