This was a shame to read about. Seemed like he’d finally started to get his life turned around. I believe he was doing some analyst work for the PAC-12 Network, and speaking to different groups about his prior problems with drugs. Appeared to be on the up and up.

Doesn't seem like there are too many details out on this yet, but the guy just can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

Read this about a month or two ago. I had no idea his issues went that deep with drugs and suicidal thoughts. Guy had (still has?) some serious demons.

Ironic to think about how he was compared to Peyton Manning in every aspect leading up to the draft that year. Their respective careers couldn’t have gone down more different paths.

Dude can't seem to stay out of his own way... unfortunate. My homerism says we beat them in the Rosebowl. Looking back if not for Woodson, Leaf was in striking distance of pulling off the upset. Wonder how that would have altered his trajectory.

Yeah - Leaf did play fairly well in the Rose Bowl (against an elite defense).  WSU lost but he had nothing to be ashamed of.

I'll admit that, at the time, I thought Leaf should have been drafted over Manning.  Obviously I was wrong.  But Leaf seemed more of a "winner" than Manning at the time - Manning didn't put UT in ANY sort of position to win their 2 big games in 1997, which was just a repeat of UT's 1996 season.  Whereas Leaf put WSU in a spot where they had a chance at the end.

Peyton Manning was a great case of the Ewing Theory. Lost to Florida all four years, part of the reason that Spurrier said that “you can’t spell Citrus without UT.” Then, as soon as he leaves, Tennessee wins the national championship behind Tee Martin.  Manning had a reputation for a long time as a guy that couldn’t win the big game.

Downvote me all you want but you all will never understand what I'm going through! To have everyone I've known the last eight years up and leave for brighter futures! What about me?! I'm so sorry. Sometimes I need to stop. I NEED TO STOP!!!
