This was too good not to post a thread. Happy March!

What a great game. Sad to see Rutgers lose. Gio Baker was taking terrible shots as usual despite Ron Harper being on fire.

I can point out at least 5 complete mental lapses by Mulcahy from the first overtime on that were costly. Notre Dame getting switches by Rutgers bigs allowed several offensive rebounds for ND and ultimately cost them the game. They also had a timeout left and didn’t call it with 1.4 left. They need their S taken back.
Oh, and Seth Davis is a fucking douche that hates the big ten for some reason. He feels vindicated by this Rutgers loss

Just figured out he went to Duke. That explains it all now.

Rutgers has a bunch of ball hogs ..you can tell how bad a team is coached ,when you watch teams like this .  Someone gets the ball with 18 on clock ,dribbles down to 3 and takes a wild 22 footer, probably 15 times this game.

Im willing  to bet Rutgers didnt have 8 assists and they scored 87 ,i see why they had the worst assist ratio in D1

Rutgers gave up close to 60 points in the paint. All the talk was about how physical Rutgers plays, give me a break! It was lay up after layup. I really think Rutgers was so bad maybe they should of started fouling ND when they got the ball in the paint and make them hit free throws.

Both teams balled out. Rutgers had its best chance to win it in regulation but couldn't get a great look. Double-OT with a tip-in with 1.4 seconds left is a classic whether in the First Four or Final Four.

If for nothing else, I was hoping that Rutgers would win the battle of the former Big East teams, just to give the Big Ten another win the Big Ten-ACC rivalry and prevent more talk about how this season’s Big Ten has been highly overrated.

Maybe it was the “Luck o’ the Irish” after the clock went past midnight in Dayton. Maybe it was Notre Dame’s strategy as much as luck. Notre Dame’s big men, Yale transfer and grad student Paul Atkinson Jr. and senior Nate Laszewski, shot 19 for 23 and scored 44 points. Rutgers never did much of anything to stop them.

As Notre Dame was dominating in the paint and Cliff Omoruyi, Rutgers’ big man and rim protector was running out towards the three-point line, I kept thinking that Rutgers should’ve been switching defenses and playing some 2-3 zone, preventing Notre Dame from getting fewer switches for easy drives to the hoop, and maybe bringing in 6-10 Dean Reiber to play with Omoruyi and Ron Harper, Jr. on the back line with Geo Baker and Caleb McConnell out front.

Even though Notre Dame had beaten Syracuse 79-69 just three weeks ago (LINK), so they had recent experience going against taller players in that 2-3 zone, Atkinson and Laszewski were 11 for 22 in that game, compared to 19 for 23 last night. And it’s not like Notre Dame’s three-point shooters were all that good against Syracuse. They were 6 for 23 against Syracuse and 6 for 19 last night.

So now, the College Football Playoffs Committee gets to watch Alabama play Notre Dame in a meaningful post-season game for the first time since January 1, 2021. LINK
