OT: Request for input on NCAA '11 Rosters
First off, I know there is another thread (well, diary) on this. I posted this there but got no input, but it was a bit older thread, so I'm hoping re-posting it here will help.
If any of you are planning on using the Operation Sports rosters for 360 then I'd like your input. First, we're doing a named-only roster for online play, so this really doesn't apply to that. Then we're doing a roster for dynasties, which this is for.
So here's the question: Michigan is still listed as running a 4-3 in the game, with Roh @ DE, etc. By default Michigan will run this, and when you sim then in an OD (or don't play as them) they will run this. Do you want me to make sure the roster is accurate in this form, or would you like to see it set up so they can run a 3-3-5.
Obviously the problem is that this roster is for more than just Michigan fans, so putting out something where in other's dynasties it won't put the right personnel on the field would be a little troubling to me.
Anyway, just looking for some input on this as I'm still struggling as to what to do.
i mean make it how you want people can make their own adjusments it takes a total of 5 min max to re arrange formations and the depth chart. i play with a 3-4 or 5-2
I will be running the 3-3-5 pretty exclusively so I would rather see it set up for that but like the guy above said, its not a huge deal. If the user really needs changes, it doesn't take long.
Im happy as long as I get the names. I can make the changes if need be.
The 3-3-5 in 10 and if so why. What coverages would you use to stop someome from throwing to their RB/FB from the shotgun all the time and can you stop the run in the 3-3-5?
Bottom line: I suck on defense. The 3-3-5 helps out guys like me who can score at will but can't stop anyone on D.
It just depends on your tastes and experiences (Thats what she said). I got tired of running the 4-3 and having online opponents dance around in the backfield for an eternity only to launch 63 yard TD bombs.
The 3-3-5 honestly isn't that bad against the run. Blitzing is fun out of it and I have more opponents settle for field goals than giving up big play TD's.
You are right about the RB/FB out of the backfield though. I usually like to play with a LB selected but I switched over to my DE's in the 3-3-5. Thats honestly about the best chance for me in that situation...to catch a RB's route with a DE.
I ran a 3-3-5 almost all the time. IMO it was much better than the other defenses to defend against people who throw a lot, and it was fine against the run.
We still run a 4-3, even though we line up in a "3-3-5". Almost every play, Roh is on the line, either down or up, rushing as if he was a DE. The other 2 LBs slide over to cover his spot and the bandit comes in to cover the WLB position.
The play calling strongly represents a 3-3-5, so that might be a reason to do it, but we are closer to a Nickel Strong package in the game than anything.
To me a 4-3 isn't off if we are running the right personnel in the game. Roh lining up at DE, especially at his size now is about right, and like you said up or down is the only differentiation.
Totally agree on the Nickel Strong (note: Nickel strong might be out of the game this year! (grrr) - It wasn't in the demo. Not wild about that.) Obviously it depends on the team they play against too, as sometimes they'll line up 4 down and sometimes three. But most of the times they rush at least 4. Roh's not always on the line though from what I saw in Spring.
Regardless, your point is probably what I plan on doing and leaving it at 4-3 and keeping the personnel on the field right regardless of formation.
but more or less used the nickel strong as my "base" d last yr ...
sure i was using it in the 4-3 package but rarely in college football games do i want to have less than 5 dbs on the field at all times ... oddly enough the one time i do i go the other way cause i am a big fan of the 4-4 to switch it up from time to time, self using the deep saftey
in the nickel, i generally controlled the ss or a de regardless of team
