OT: Red Wings v. Blackhawks, game four.

Lidstrom out, Datsyuk out, Red Wings need to kick it into gear today, lest they want the Blackhawks to turn this into a bona-fide series.

... tough first period. Really chippy. I'm just glad it's on NBC, so I can actually see it. No Versus coverage by my cable provider. Kronwall almost killed another Blackhawk just at the end of the period, though. That would have been just a demoralizing hit if he delivered cleanly.

drinking games for Detroit/Pittsburgh finals: One drink every time the Hossa "drama" is mentioned One drink every time Cindy's balls are licked One drink every time an announcer talks about Ozzie being doubted One shot for every goal Franzen scores Chug/finish your drink if Fleury faceplants onto the ice at the start of a period

Rest Lidstrom and Datsyuk in Game 5 even if they're healthy enough to play? The Wings should take care of business at home even without those two, and they'll need both at full strength because Pittsburgh looks really strong right now. On the other hand you don't want to blow it and have to go back to Chicago for a Game 6.

I hope to God I never have to watch the Wings bush-league up the game the way Chicago did. They sucked at everything. You know the part in Porky's when the racist dude keeps calling the Jewish kid a "kite" and the Jewish kid says, "you're too stupid to even be a good bigot"? That's Chicago today - they couldn't even goon up the game properly.

I agree with what you're saying, but they had to do something. Burish and Eager will always be Burish and Eager, meaning that they will always try to do something to get the team going no matter if they're losing by 1 or by 10. Many times it might be something "bush league" like a shove after the whistle, but that's just the way they play. Every team needs a guy like that. As for Versteeg, he was just out of control today. He's all heart and is always the smallest guy on the ice, but he's definitely not the guy you want starting altercations. Hopefully he learns from it.

Versteeg is one of the guys I had in mind, along with Eager. Both of them were completely retarded. Eager's misconducts, as best I could tell, were for yapping, not rough stuff. The first one definitely was, anyway, you could tell on the replay, he didn't pick up his 10 minutes til he said something to the ref. I don't know for sure about the second. As for Versteeg, what's he thinking out there? 4-1 is a bad deficit but as the Wings showed in Game 3, three goals isn't insurmountable. But there he is gooning up the scrum in front of the ref and handing the Wings a 5-on-3, after which the game was basically over. Then again, if he doesn't have the confidence that his team can come back down 4-1 or the poise to help his team position themselves to do it, maybe it was over anyway. He's a young'un, he'll learn.
