OT: Question on NCAA '11

Submitted by Buzz Your Girlfriend on

G'Day,

I bought NCAA '11 when it came out and I'm in the zone of domination on heisman. However, I plugged up the online yesterday and I get completely dominated playing as Michigan. I'm something like 3-14 and really can't figure it out. It seems as though everyone's "sliders" are all the way up because I can never, I repeat never catch up to anyone..And I get dragged down from behind on any good play I have, i.e. Roundtree.

Normally I would account this to me sucking massively, but a good indicater is that when I play people, they kick 5 yards deep in the endzone almost everytime, I can barely scratch the 5 yard mark on kickoffs.

Am I oblivious to something? Any tips?

but I do think they are different than in normal game modes. For me, it is really tough to run it out of Michigan's shotgun formations consistently throughout the game. Try to mix it up with the Ace sets.

I know Michigan doesn't run three yards and a cloud of dust anymore but I like to get back to old school football to minimize turnovers. I run the I-Formation and set by sub settings to "heavy" and run the HB Off-tackle and the other run up the gut mixing in options and PA's. I also run the I-formation with the slot reciever. I don't know if this will help or not. But, it's a good way to keep the opposing offense off the field and chew up the clock. Good luck.

I think to the key to winning with Michigan in that game is running the read option. I have been shredding defenses with triple options and the like. The power running game isn't that effective with Vincent Smith. I roll with Toussaint and Smith in the split back packages. Also, I think our kicker just sucks in the game, I feel you on the kicking troubles.

Have you had success with the read option online?  As ridiculous as it seems, DR just isn't fast enough to get around the corner when he keeps.  Also, Foricer fumbles like it's his job.  I'm 7-13 online (haven't even played a non-online match) and I am yet to find a "go-to" play that has a dencent conversion percentage on 3rd and long.

Anyone discover any high-percentage plays in the M playbook yet?

The highest percentage play that I run is probably 5 wide steaks or slants. If the D is playing zone, you can wait and hit the guy over the middle, if it's man I go deep to Roundtree. 3rd and short works well for that because if the D is in pass coverage you can audible to QB blast or whatever and just run for it.  Stonum over the middle will pretty much be open against any safety if you get them in a 5 wide matchup.

I also like the 5 wide WR option pass. It's easier to read than the zone read option IME. If the D clamps down on the run just press A and toss it over the middle.

And yes, I run the read option online. It is tough to make the reads sometimes and you'll get eaten up in the backfield
