OT: NHL Awards Show
Datsyuk locked up his 3rd consecutive Selke trophy (best defensive forward) and state of Michigan ties Ryan Miller (Vezina) and Duncan Keith (Norris) won their respective trophies.
Sidney Crosby professed his love and admiration for NHL legend and Red Wing Hall of Famer (and my favorite player of all-time) Stevie Y; I found that pretty amusing.
The surprise of the night: Henrik Sedin of the Canucks took home the Hart Memorial Trophy (NHL MVP). Not Sidney Crosby. Not Alexander Ovechkin.
Congrats to all the winners.
Discuss.
Might as well rename the Selke trophy the Datsyuk, that guy is just as good as it gets defensively. I am happy that Sedin won the Hart too I think he deserved it this year, good for him. He carried that team while his brother was injured this year.
to both. He nearly won the Lady Byng 5 times in a row but spent a tad too long in the box. I still have a heavy admiration for what he means to the team and will never forget the "Datsyukian deke" as long as I live.
Huge year and all, but I just didn't think it'd happen... I was sure Ovechkin would get it again.
I can't believe Miller took the vezina. He was very good in the regular season but not better than bryzgalov. I didn't know olympic performance counted towards nhl awards.
The stats sure don't indicate that.
Jimmy Howard shoulda won the Calder. Without Jimmy Howard, the Wings don't make the playoffs.
