OT: New (and different EDSBS Charity Drive)

Submitted by crg on July 16th, 2019 at 9:17 AM

FYI,

The site Everyday Should Be Saturday (EDSBS) over on SBNation is doing a charity drive again now, albeit with a few changes.  The site and drive used to be run by Spencer Hall, noted U Florida fan who would direct the drive proceeds to a refugee center down in Georgia (and was such a good sport about it that he got a U of M tattoo when Michigan won the charity drive a few years ago - although we have also won the charity drive all the other years too, to my knowledge).  Spencer has moved on and the charity drive is now being run by his #2 guy (a noted pro-OSU and anti-UM advocate).  He is directing this year's proceeds to a counseling center down in southern Indiana/Louisville area.  Still a good cause - link:

I seriously doubt it.  For starters, it isn’t clear that Spencer has a stake in this, and even if he did, this isn’t his New American Pathways baby.  He (Spencer) has always honored the Michigan Money Cannon in some fashion for crushing all opposition in his NAP drive, ranging from devoting a week at EDSBS to Michigan colors and flaming UM rivals to getting tattoos to commemorate our generousity.  He currently sports two tats, a Totoro with a block M and a dignified Wolverine with a monocle and a top hat.  When he did Shutdown Fullcast here in Ann Arbor last month, they handed out stickers with his wolverine tat on it.  I would guess that he has a limit on the number of UM tats he needs.

Wait, I don't know that Scott is a "noted pro-OSU and anti-UM advocate" as much as he is a Cincinnati fan and equal opportunity snarker.  In my reading, he just likes using Harbaugh for comedy because Harbaugh's clearly defined personal quirks that make it easy to go to for comedy purposes.

I've read his stuff for while - the guy is clearly a Cinci fan first and foremost, but has basically described OSU as his #2.  He rarely misses an opportunity to take shots at UM in his EDSBS scripts (even before Harbaugh came back).

He's also just not as entertaining as Spencer in his writing.

Well, let's be fair.  "Not as entertaining as Spencer in his writing" pretty much describes.....everyone except Spencer.  I have sat at my desk trying to laugh silently so as not to attract unwanted attention more times, while reading Spencer, than anyone else.  Not even close.
