OT - Need Photoshop/graphic designer

Submitted by karpodiem on
Looking to find someone who is good with Photoshop/graphic design who could do some image editing and manipulation for me. I have 4 images I would like to have edited; Woodson - http://hdimage.org/images/ejamov3n4gxfcow5od2c.jpg ND - http://hdimage.org/images/fdctps1xsc2m4s2ddtsq.jpg MSU - http://hdimage.org/images/50hwxlvh0gb69jf5sd.jpg OSU - http://hdimage.org/images/7svd1vv3ancjg8hxy0od.jpg For all of the images, I'd like the background to be taken out completely, as the images will be put on a solid background, with the focus being on the player(s) in the image. Also, I'm looking for all of the images to receive a bit of artistic touch similar front part of the 2004 Michigan student t-shirt (if anyone can take close up picture of the tailback (Perry?) on the front, I'll Paypal you $5), with the players being outlined by their jersey/helmet. I'd like to retain any maize and blue on the Michigan player, along with the green/red/gold colors on the opposing player. Finally, I'd like the contrast to be bumped on the helmets of the players themselves, so the first thing you recognize upon seeing the image is the helmet. Reply or e-mail me (a k a r p o @gmail.com) if you're interested along with your hourly rate/quote for how much work you anticipate this to be, Thanks

First, I'm not offering a quote-- currently dog-sitting and the weekend is pretty much shot. If you can wait I might be willing to offer a serious quote. BUT I can offer you some info: 1. Each job is an hour, definitely no more than an hour-and-a-half. 2. For silhouetting shots, it's always best when you can see the entire figure. For example, your Woodson pointing to the sky pic will yield great results... since you can see all of him, when he's taken out of the environment it'll still look normal. The Crable shot, on the other hand, will NOT work-- when you cut him out of the image half of his body is missing-- for example, only a small sliver of his shin is showing, so when you remove the background it'll look like his lower leg is really skinny. 3. Oddly enough, I AM WEARING THE 2004 SHIRT RIGHT NOW!! This actually works best as an Illustrator trick, not Photoshop, where the image is posterized into a very limited color palette (4 or 5 colors instead of 500+). Might seem elaborate, but actually it's quite simple to do. Again, because we're really showing off the maize n blue of the uniforms here, this will look pretty sharp. 4. All told, I'd probably tell you this whole thing would cost you about 5 hours-- NO MORE THAN 6. I can't speculate on someone else's freelance rate, but it all depends on their level of talent, stature of professionalism, and how much business they're trying to drum out of their freelance business. For me, freelance is all about how much I'm willing to give up my free time to do the work instead. I'd give you a quote, and a discount for a fellow MgoBlog Man, but any pro should quote you on a person to person basis. Throwing out numbers for everyone to see can't be in the best interest of the artist. Hope all this helps-- you might also consider students or new professionals that might also be willing to work at a lower rate.

I'll agree with most of Six Zero's post except to say there is no way it should take 5-6 hours. A good photoshopper can pull all those images out in less than 2 hours easy. Three tops. Just IMHO. No sugar coat. Also, there's always a way around an image that has something missing or covered. In the case of the crable pic, if I absolutely HAD to use that image, I would pull out what I needed and stitch on a leg from another pic. I've done this many times, it's tricky and time consuming, but there's always a way.
