OT: Need help finding specific Michigan apparel
Not sure of this post is acceptable during the season. I am trying to find the hoodie JH wears often.
He also wore it yesterday.
I can't seem to find it anywhere except the zip-up version. Sometimes he would have the yellow tabs on the pull strings. Trying to get it as a present for myself.

Those look puffy and nice and cozy. Plus if you are ever lost it will be easy to spot.

Since Michigan went Jordan and back to Nike. Lots of things worn by coaches and players are only available in the athletic department.
Scour Ebay after season or if the Athletic department does a garage sale again.

I also assumed the hoodie was an exclusive item since I saw JH wear it last season as well and couldn't find it being sold then either.

this is 100% correct. Nike/Jumpman are going to have certain items that are only available to members of the Athletic Department... they will release versions of the same thing but they will not look the same as what the coaches or the players are wearing.
Adidas did the same thing, I got a pull over from the Adidas rep that was the same as the coaches wore and the only difference between it and the one that was sold at the MDen was that coaches one had a Michigan helmet on it and the one at the MDen had a block M...

Seems kinda self-defeating. Sell 10 of them to the Athletic Department or 10,000 to the public. Now I don't have an MBA but my gut instinct tells me the latter is more profitable.

It’s a bit like Nike’s relationship with Oregon; there are prototypes and trials in the program that will never see the market. They’re setting up the Jordan line the same way.
As far as profitability, producing a few limited items for teams and staff is a drop or two in a vast ocean, and companies do all sorts of unprofitable things to promote a limited or elite image.

Yeah but what that hoodie is is just standard merchandise, (i.e. cheap junk made in Asia which they can sell with a steep mark-up), but with a slightly different design (which really just comes down to which trademarked brand symbol you use and where you place it i.e. not exactly high-end customization going on here) than what's available to the general public.
I don't see how Nike/Jordan in any way benefits from that. I would think it's more likely that the schools like that they can have some 'exclusive' items for the AD as a way of appealing to recruits by making them feel special ("Hey you get this 'exclusive' Jordan brand gear that you can't get anywhere else.") The way your IT industry employer might make 'exclusive swag' for staff to feel special.
But of course there's a slight difference here, i.e. the only reason Nike/Jordan is paying Michigan a lot of money to give Michigan athletes their gear is to entice the public to buy more Nike/Jordan gear. Now if the paying customer can't actually purchase the stuff they see on TV that somehow defeats the purpose. In other words, as Nike/Jordan in this relationship, you want to make sure that the public can purchase the items they see on TV or at the very least equivalent products.

Unfortunately not all apparel is available for purchase. Jim wears a lot of stuff that isn't.

I mean, I don't even care if it's a Michigan sweatshirt, I want a blank one if they sell it. Looks like a really useful design, half-turtleneck, half-sweatshirt.

This is the one your are looking for. It sold out fast last year. MDen had the darker pitch blue version for a short time. Fanatics sold the navy blue version.

I read these posts all the time but haven't logged in in years. Oddly enough this particular post made me want to pull the trigger.
MDen sent out a bunch of catalogs for the new line of apparel months ago and they have yet to have any of it for purchase online. I called in the beginning of the season and they said it's all delayed. It was expected to be available in the beginning of the season but so far no luck. Surely I'm not the only one checking the website every day? Good luck!
