OT: More Detroit Lions Comedy

Submitted by Jay on
So, Dan Orlovsky has a sprained ligament in his thumb and will not play for the next few weeks. It is now rumored that Daunte Culpepper will probably be the starter on Sunday after what will amount to about 5 days of practice. Seriously, how pathetic is it that they won't even give Drew Stanton a chance to start on Sunday? Can he really be this bad in practice that they're willing to go with a busted up Culpepper who doesn't even know the playbook instead of starting Stanton? Mike Martz told Millen that Trent Edwards was a better QB and he was making the wrong choice by picking Stanton. Just pure comedy gold.

Drew Stanton in the second round was such a dumb pick it isn't funny.  I thought he should have gone in the 4th round, and there were a number of better QB options available when we picked him.  Thank God Millen is gone, and we have a bunch of draft picks to work with this year.

is the 3rd stringer - I would be delighted if he played.  He is undefeated as an NFL starter.

Personally I think a banged up, washed up Culpepper is better than an Orlvosky anyday.  Stanton is obviously not the answer, who (besides Millen and Sparty Slappies) looked at him and thought Second Rounder?

If 'Pep can lead the lions to 1 win he will have already exceeded the expectations in Detroit.

Daunte in a wheelchair before giving Stanton a snap. The word out of the Lions camp is that he is having a hard time throwing a spiral.

I would give ANYTHING to see him play and stink it up, just to shut the sparties up a bit.

The fact that Stanton wasn't even in consideration vs. Orlovsky should say everything that needs to be said.  He was a horrible 2nd rounder. If you're a Lions fan, you should warm up to the fact that Matthew Stafford will be your first pick next season.

Every one of our picks this April should be O-Line and defense.  No offensive position players.  If we do that, we should be looking good in a couple years.
