OT: Michigan Sports/Memorabilia Rooms?
Anyone collect Michigan (or Detroit?) memorabilia and have a room (or rooms) set up to display said items?
Moved into a new house about a year ago and have been working on doing this.
The front room in my house is where I keep most everything. Highlights include a University of Michigan Shuffleboard table and a wall full of single signed 8x10 photos. Each photo is authenticated by PSA/DNA, JSA, or Beckett. Most of the rest of the stuff is Detroit related but I don't have enough rooms to separate everything.
Garage is a work in progress but doesn't really have anything Michigan related, just Detroit.

Garage far less interesting. Red Wings pool table; seats from Tiger Stadium and Joe Louis Arena; and a bunch of junk.

You would be correct lol.

I have some collectibles and autographs but they have been boxed up for a couple of years now. Still have my 1999 The Game program signed by Brady

That's a pretty cool item to have. The only time I ever saw Brady play was on MNF a month or two back. My first game at the Big House was during the Hoke years. We beat Miami (OH) but I'm not sure that's worth celebrating or commemorating in any way.

My first game was that 1999 game against OSU. I met a bunch of players afterwards outside of the stadium after the game. I use to love going to the spring game back in the early 2000s too

I've only been to The Game once :(
And never at the Big House :(
BUT.....my one and only attempt was The Game, 2022

I bet making sure all those pictures were aligned was a pain in the ass lol

You have no idea. It's the first room you see when you walk into my house, so it's gotta be done right....and then of course it's way up in the air so you need a tall ladder.
I'm also paranoid about earthquakes and/or would-be thieves so every picture is hung with a security hanger which makes it even more difficult because there's attachments at the top and bottom that have to line up correctly and there's wall anchors at each attachment point so you really can't afford to make many mistakes.
I feel terrible for whoever buys this house from me as there are going to be so many large holes on the wall.

The finished part of the basement at my old house was like this... walls were painted blue, I had 2 Michigan fatheads, has a fathead of UTL1 with the program above it... also had other memorabilia in the room along with a lot Michigan stuff... then we moved into our current house which is a tri-level and space around the bar has a good chunk of Michigan stuff there...

I wish I had a basement. Would make this so much easier. Stupid California and their lack of basements.

We're all fighting for second place behind this guy.

Do you guys not have wives? Must be single to go to be able to go to this level.

Until you have to dust it.

Pretty sure his Maize walls in his hallway are the wrong Pantone. (F@(/<ing amateurs!)

This looks freaking awesome, when are you going to host an MGoBlog party??
January 16th, 2023 at 6:52 PM ^
I'm about 4-20 hours north of the Rose Bowl/Coliseum (depending on traffic) so how about next time we travel to USC/UCLA?
January 17th, 2023 at 6:46 AM ^
Rose Bowl is the CFP semi-final on 1/1/24. You’ve got 11.5 months to prep for your MGoBlog NYE party.

I'm single so my whole house is one big sports display.
Michigan and Red Wings pub tables
The only player I have is Charles Woodson INT
Michigan Stadium, Crisler, Yost, The Joe and the LCA panoramas
Fenway Park and the Dolphins stadium pictures

I don't have a dedicated room, just items displayed throughout the house. Unfortunately this happened yesterday when taking down the tree: 1989 National Champions.

Ouch :(
Quick eBay search and I can't help you replace it.
I had a bad tree taking down experience this year as well. Broke one of my dad's ornaments. Was of no significance whatsoever other than the fact it was my dad's.

This may be way to anal about things, but if you haven't thrown it away. Years ago my folks had got a Rose Bowl ornament that got damaged before they gave it to me. My father, being the solution biased individual he was, got a styrofoam ball the size of the ornament and put the pieces around it usingt Elmers. I have that ornament to this day and damaged as it is, it really has meaning to me.

I haven't had the heart to throw it away, although I swept up the small pieces and threw them away. I might try your father's method.

My Jan 1 1998 Rose Bowl ornament, (gift for christmas before we won it) met a very similar fate a few years back. I feel your pain.
January 16th, 2023 at 11:36 PM ^
Crazy - I have that exact same ornament.

My wife would divorce me if I made of the those.

Well at least you have an escape route

I have a ton of stuff (Michigan, Red Wings, Lions, Tigers, Pistons, beer, and Cal)
Some of it is up in the shop. Basement is unfinished but as soon as I finish it it’ll get decorated with all the stuff that’s just sitting in boxes since I moved here 3 years ago

I love the shuffle puck. Epic game.
January 16th, 2023 at 11:43 PM ^
It's literally the reason I bought this house. My realtor thought I was on drugs when I said my biggest must-have feature was 25+ feet of unobstructed wall space in a room.
January 17th, 2023 at 4:59 PM ^
It’s rare to find the space in a home. We travel on occasion with friends and we always try to find one spot for puck. Guys vs Gals and we have some classic battles for bragging rights.

I love seeing all these because they remind me of my home growing up. My dad set up an incredible “Michigan Room” that was covered in Block M wallpaper, and then covered in old M pennants, bumper stickers, newspaper clippings from great games, a painting of Bo running out to the M-club banner, etc. He had a brown jug, and an M football helmet filled with all his ticket stubs (pretty much every game since the late 60s). It was…incredible. There were only two non-M things in the room: a weight machine and a punching bag. You better believe those got used with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. Just writing and thinking about it makes me miss my dad like hell.

I don't have much Michigan memoribilia here but I admire all of you and your game rooms. KEep up the good work.
January 17th, 2023 at 9:25 AM ^
The precision in the picture hanging is impressive.
January 17th, 2023 at 11:29 AM ^
So much effort, but it's worth it. Every time I look at the wall I just think how much empty space is left....but it's getting harder and harder to find more guys to add as I'm pretty strict with who gets to be there.
Really want a Brendan Morrison signed photo but I've never once seen one in a Michigan jersey. Tried contacting him via every social media channel he has, but obviously my story didn't interest him much.

Looking good OP! I am building my collection, which includes signed pictures, jerseys and most recently a mini helmet signed by BC2. What I am most proud of, is my ticket collection. I've had to purchase a few old stubs on eBay due to the digital wave but it is fun to look at them and relive the memories.
January 17th, 2023 at 3:44 PM ^
I hate the lack of ticket stubs anymore. I understand the purpose of digital (it is easy) but I really want the option of a hard ticket. I'd pay extra for it - especially if it doesn't just say ticketmaster all over it.
