OT Michigan Football & a Sermon

I am a pastor. If this raises red flags for you, just move on. This post isn't for you. In the several years I've come to mgoblog, the fact that I'm a pastor (and thus, a Christian) has been 100% irrelevant. And for this reason and others, I've never mentioned it. I have no desire to proselytize, evangelize, etc., or to have any religious discussions, at least at this site. I also have never wanted to open myself to scorn, ridicule, and sarcasm from mgoreaders. The only thing I'll say is that my posts are too wordy, which may be a reflection on sermon prep. Anyway, while preparing my message for this coming Sunday, and looking at my text, I had a fascinating insight. I realized that there was an incredible sermon illustration coming out of the whole Rosenberg debacle. For several days I've pondered the hours put it by the guys on the team, and what it is to be a Michigan Man, and thought about Barwis and the weight program. I realized there are many parallels between being "all in for Michigan" and a life of full discipleship. Being in metro-Chicago, the church I'm at has members or children of members in a number of Big Ten schools. And most people don't care all that much about college football, so if I use this as an illustration, it will be a small part of the sermon. Maybe I could do more with this if I were in AA, but that's a moot point.
