OT - Mich @ OSU ticket question

Submitted by A2MIKE on November 4th, 2018 at 4:08 PM

Looking to get tickets, but had a question for the board.  Do we know what section will be the "Michigan section"?  It used to always be sections 6c and 8c.  But I feel like Ohio State has changed it now.  Has anyone received tickets from the Michigan ticket office allotment?

You’ll hear a lot of F-bombs and see a lot of posturing around the stadium, if things are similar to when I’ve been there. Actual violence isn’t an issue. And unless you’re sitting among OSU students, you’ll probably be fine in your seat if you are respectful to the people around you, don’t showboat or taunt, etc.

2002 was the only year I went. I don’t know that I ever felt like I was really in danger, but it was definitely very uncomfortable.

People were nearly universally rude, there was nothing good natured about any of the crap that was said/done to us.

We took the long way back to our car to avoid the post game scene that we saw forming. After seeing this video, I now see it was a good decision.

I’m pretty sure I’ll never go back. It wasn’t worth the headaches.

I went in 2016, and we had zero issues! What we did got tickets in the endzone underneath upperdeck of the horseshoe. Then we took shuttle $6 round trip(if memory serves right)

Apologize for the voice to text response. Sitting at Dave & Busters with a three-year-old on my lap. Going to the Horseshoe in your Michigan Jersey is not that bad but you will get sworn at and probably spit on if we won. I'm going sitting in the OSU student section and will treat every insult as a parade of showers.

I went two years ago as well as 4 years ago. The horror stories did not apply. It was a very different experience as compared to the '90s. Perhaps it was my being older. Or maybe the fans view M differently given their success the last 15 years.

Just a case study but I have two people who work for me in Columbus. One, she doesn't care much about OSU but watches the games with her friends. She tells me, "honestly, I hope you all win this year, it's about time, I'd just be like, things need to even out over the long run". The guy is a die hard fan but he is convinced Michigan wins and had already sold his tickets to the game.

(Probably more relevant to this topic I'm told that there are a lot of tickets on the secondary market after Purdue and Nebraska). No Buckey wants to go watch their team lose to Michigan. Like, None.

I think a lot of Buckeye's have written the season off/ or are at a minimum man-splaining it, due to 1) urban meyer and wtf? 2) another horrible loss to a mostly bad team/struggles against other very bad teams and 3) Michigan's total domination of ranked teams.

Gonna buy a game ticket, best seat I can find on the good guys side of the field. Will keep an eye out for pre-game info, as that's my main concern since I'm flying in solo from Alaska.

It’s not bad. It’ll be glorious to win there this year. We need to not fear them and their environment, fill up 20% of stadium, and cheer loud to help our boys.

I've been to the most recent two games in Columbus, though I will not being going this year.

Besides the players/coaches' family/major donor section right down on the field next to the band, there is not a true Michigan section. 8C/6C are where I sat both times and in those section it was about 50-50 split in fans, but there might be more Michigan this year (in the past, many Wolverine fans would just sell the tickets that were allotted to U of M and they were bought by Buckeyes).

I think the hype about OSU being dangerous/day ruiningly bad is overblown. It is the most hostile place a Michigan fan can go, and you're likely to receive some non-good natured taunts and jeers. You can definitely cheer in the stadium, but make sure you're audibly cheering for Michigan and not against OSU/taunting them back. That said, I never once felt like I was truly in danger before, during or after the game.

2014 really wasn't bad at all, though we sucked then. After they won in 2016, it got a little bit rowdy but we quickly left (had some comments made to us walking back to the car, but nothing crazy).

If you have the money and time, I'd recommend it. It's a great college football experience and unless you try to fight stupid with more stupid, you will be fine.

I've gone in 2016, and 2014. Both times it was a pretty pleasant experience minus the end results. People obviously joked around and ribbed me a little, but nothing beyond what I expect from rival fanbase. Even had a random fan buy me a beer after halftime.

Maybe it made a difference that the group I went with was a mix of both fanbases.
