OT-Lord Stanleys Cup/Dynasty

Some interesting comparisons...

Toews is to the Blackhawks what Steve Yzerman was to the Red Wings. Similarly, defenseman Duncan Keith is to the Blackhawks what Nicklas Lidstrom was to the Red Wings. The Blackhawks also have Marian Hossa, Patrick Sharp and Brent Seabrook. The Red Wings had Brendan Shanahan, Tomas Holmstrom and Kris Draper. Including the coaching, because Joel Quenneville is to the Blackhawks what Scotty Bowman was to the Red Wing.

The Red Wings could spend more than every team when they won their three titles in six seasons. Free agency, and money in general, weren't considerations.

Given the difficulties of keeping a team together in the modern NHL, winning three championships within six years, as the Blackhawks will do if they can finish off Tampa Bay, would perhaps be no less impressive a feat than what the Islanders did by winning four in a row.

For all of us on this blog with Chicago ties this has been so much fun and likely not over yet!

Really?

During this run, over the last 6 seasons, only 13 teams have been represented in the conference finals for 24 spots.

For the two years prior to that, you add 4 more teams, for a total of 17 franchises represented in the 32 spots, and in those two years, the same two teams met in the Stanley Cup Final.

Going all the way back to the beginning of the salary cap era (2 more years) adds only 2 more teams.  So, in ten years of salary cap hockey, 19 of the 30 teams have been represented in the conference finals for 40 spots. Not exactly parity like has been shoved down our throats for God knows how long. It's not harder to win repeatedly now than it was back then.  Just ask the New York Rangers about throwing money after good teams before the cap era. It didn't work,

Listen, Hawk fans - the thing I hate most about your team is that there isn't anything to hate about them.  Enjoy it.  Revel in it.  Are we butthurt about not winning? Yep. We should have beaten you in 2013. We should have beaten tampa this year. We aren't used to not being in it when it matters.  I enjoyed watching this Hawks team because they are the Wings 2.0. But we'll be back, and looking at the Hawks salary cap numbers this year, you may not be -- at least not next year. But who cares -- scoreboard.

I love how all you guys have is "butthurt". You just won the Stanley Cup again, and you can't wait to come to a place full of Red Wings fans to talk about whose dynasty was "better", like it's not going to get argument. I'm pretty sure this wasn't a "Fuck Chicago" thread started by some bitter Detroit fan. Not to mention, "Hey, remember that Wings dynasty from several years ago? We're better than that now, right?", is kinda sad. It really looks like you had that one warming up in the bullpen for about six years.

Sparty On, Blackhawks fans!

and I definitely like the cup being in Chicago more than Tampa which was basically South Chicago in this series

OTOH, I like the Wings and thus dislike the Hawks and I just looked at the United Center last night and wondered how many of these people cared about the Hawks before 2010? Maybe 20%?
