OT: Lions successful rebuild - both coordinators getting multiple HC interviews

Submitted by Blue Middle on January 9th, 2024 at 7:07 PM

Three teams have already requested interviews with Ben Johnson and two with Aaron Glenn.

There's only reporting on three teams so far, so they may get more opportunities.

It's hard to believe that just three years ago the Lions were the biggest dumpster fire in the NFL, and it's cool that their ascension has happened alongside Michigan's.

I think the team is still a year away from a Superbowl-ready roster, but it's been an amazing turnaround by Brad Holmes and MCDC.

Detroit Lions, Aidan Hutchinson has been on a complete tear last 2 weeks. 9 solo tackles, 5 sacks, 7 tfl, 1 ff, & 10 QB hits. He's a massive unmovable object at the point of attack in the run game which gives Detroit the #2 run D league wide.

He made the PB and his PFF grade (91) is elite. He should be AP but that's usually a sack stat leader award so we'll see. Hutch isn't a small bendy type he's the total package.

He's the best defensive player I've ever seen in a Lions uni (just ahead of Suh)

Having said all that Hutch will lead Detroit to their first playoff win since 1991.

Losing Johnson would really hurt the team...Glenn not so much. I will say that it is harder to evaluate Glenn since he has such a bad staple of defensive backs, but he is very erratic in how he decides to pressure the qb which drives me nuts.
