At this point in his career. The legs are shot. His range in left is abysmal. But the Tigers have another DH playing right, a statue known as Magglio Ordonez. If I'm Ilitch I bite the bullet and sign free agent Carl Crawford to play left. It'll cost a lot but about $65 million comes off the payroll after 2010. Keep Magglio in right (ugh) and DH Guillen full time.

Unless we want to make a trade or spend a lot more cash. We have way too much money locked up in uselessness. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing a trade where we package a good young player with some of our worthless payroll to free up some cash. Then we can sign someone else. Either way, we're screwed for next year unless Carlos, Mags, or Nate finds the fountain of youth. Or pitching could be pretty good though if some guys get back on track at the tail end of the rotation.

I was horrified at the thought of Jim Leyland and Ozzie Guillen hugging tenderly. My eyes are burning from the thought. Maybe if they each had a knife in one hand to put in the other's back?
