OT: Fundraiser for Children's Hospital in Columbus

Submitted by UAUM on

Since it's a realtively slow time on the board I thought I'd let any of you in enemy territory know about a fundrasier we throw at our house that is a good time and helps the local children's hospital - Nationwide Children's Hospital.

It's called the Berkshire Triathlon - it's the shortest distance triathlon, completely non-competitive, and you get City BBQ and beer at the end, along with a dri-fit shirt.

Here's the link to register:

http://nationwidechildrens.org.kintera.org/berkshiretri

And if you just want to support, here's the link to donate:

100% of the registration fees and donations go directly to the hospital and a current patient.  All sponsor money pays for the event and we have zero administrative cost.

with this trend of marathons, 1/2 marathons and giving out beer at the end?

I just had a patient whose kid was hospitalized after running a half marathon, drinking the offered beer at the end, and promptly passing out and hitting his head.

Long distance running....dehydration....beer (and alcohol) being a diuretic....is a good idea?

Nationwide Children's Hospital? Is that were the Super Bowl add kid died? Or is it just Nationwide sponsoring an event simply because of a shitty commercial that pissed off all of the people?

In all seriousness a little too far for me to travel and partake in an event that would be pure torture on my body (overweight and lazy).

They must have made a big donation to the hospital recently bc it used to be just named Columbus children's hospital.

We host it because we had a experience there and thought that supporting hospital and all the kids there would be a good and easy thing to do.

My son has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and that hospital is a leading research and treatment site for Duchenne.  When he was in the hospital in Minneapolis last summer with heart issues, one of their top Pediatric Heart specialists calles us on a Sunday to consult.

I swallow my distate for OSU and give credit where it is due.
