OT: Former Michigan recruit Tyler Martin commits to Arizona
Some of you may recall that Massachusetts LB Tyler Martin decommitted from Michigan shortly after Don Brown was let go. Not surprisingly, he just committed to Arizona.

There's more. Michigan and Arizona have numerous coaching connections. Jim Young left Bo's staff in the early '70s to take the Arizona HC job. Larry Smith (future head coach at Arizona and several other schools) went along for the ride. (Aside: A year earlier Dave Strack had taken the Arizona AD job after being the associate AD at Michigan. Presumably those events were somewhat related.) RichRod took the same job a year after being fired. Now former OC Jeff Fisch is the head coach and Don Brown is the DC there.
Two of what apparently are Jedd's prize recruits go the the same HS as recent commit Mason Graham:

I honestly do not remember this kid being committed.

You're not the only one

He was committed but he shouldn't have even been offered. This is not a D1 player...stiff and slow.

I do...wanted him to replace Ben Mason at FB because he was never going to play LB.
The kid is built like 1995.

I thought he committed three months ago.

Same, I thought this was old news.

Good luck to Jeff Fisch.

Jeff Fisher would be a great hire at USC. Wait...

Jed Fisher would be even better!

I guess he's dirty enough to fit the mold of Pete Carroll.

I will only say I'm very glad Mike MacDonald is here.

With all due respect to Don Brown...he would have FEASTED last Saturday. It may have actually been worse.
But that QB from WMU would've went for 400 on him, no question.

Yeah, it's telling that UM did really well when they did very Don Brown-type things defensively. Brown's defenses are built to pick on offenses like Washington.
I do think he'd have done fine against WMU because WMU's WRs were limited, but I wouldn't feel particularly confident about the defense's ability to pivot when faced with offenses that didn't play directly into their hands.

Thought he had already committed to them for some reason. Hope that goes well for him

I remember the days of Harbaugh saying "GOOD SHIT JEFF!"
September 16th, 2021 at 9:28 PM ^
I still regularly say that. Then I get sad.

Happy trails and good luck to him

I could swear that Fisch left Michigan because he wasn't offered the OC position

IIRC, there was some kind of road block to that that involved Tim Drevno, and as things panned out, it turned out he could have gotten the spot, but he had already left.

Brady Hoke's Aztecs just put up 454 yds. on the Arizona defense. They averaged 6.4 yards per carry and held the ball for 37 and a half minutes. Not going good for Don Brown.

At this point, I'm wondering how defenses didn't figure out Don Brown's system before he came to Michigan.

I didn't remember who he was until I watched his film. On the first hit I remembered. He would make a great TE! I think he'd make the pros as a TE. I don't think he's going to LB. He could play DT. But he'd have to gain a lot of weight.

Oh really? He was a big kid who matured early-he was a great 8th grade player. It has been all downhill from that time. If I remember correctly, he has a sister who is a good soccer or softball player-likely better than he is a football player.

good luck young man. we do really need some ILB's for the future, but this is a don brown guy.
