OT: Football Season Ticket question/ OSU 42-27 notes

Submitted by TrueMaize on June 20th, 2022 at 1:05 PM

First, I wanted to thank all of those who helped me plan a trip to The Big House for my grandfathers first ever Michigan home game. If I remember correctly the score was something like 42-27. It will be a memory I have of my grandfather for the rest of my life and I thank you all so deeply for that.

Couple quick notes from our time tailgating:

We parked near the train tracks at what I think was a real estate or developer’s parking lot. The owner of the business and his wife were extremely kind and let their tailgating customers use their indoor office restroom and even offered us a ride to the game, because I was on crutches. I had torn my hamstring the week prior trying to give my best Tyreek Hill impersonation. (Still managed to get over the wall to storm the field though!) We ended up walking because I wanted my grandfather to have the experience of walking to the game. Once we got closer we were given a lift by a stadium employee on a golf cart. Which was welcomed after walking on crutches from Jefferson/Main. Lol

So again, thank you to those who helped and offered advice! I appreciate the community we have here!

This leads me to my question regarding season tickets: how far in advance do we receive the tickets? The Colorado State game is during my bachelor party trip and the Illinois game is on my wedding day. I need to sell them and being a first time ticket holder I’m not hip to how that goes. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Some photos below from what will be the one of my greatest sports memories ever.

Thank you! I’m pretty excited, marrying my best friend/high school crush, and my grandfather is my best man! Couldn’t be happier!

That’s what I’m planning on doing. But I’m not sure how to do that with digitally delivered tickets. I tried the tab that says sell of StubHub on the Michigan ticket website but says I don’t have tickets to sell.

Paper tickets typically came last week of July-1st 2 weeks of August. You should be able to sell them and state you will transmit tickets digitally to them the week of the game. Trick for you is you probably don't know where your tickets are.

Congrats on the weeks ahead. Awesome relationship with your grandfather.

You have it all wrong.  Maizen (or whatever his moniker is now) says Haskins couldn’t have been that good as he was a lowly 3 ⭐️. /s

Haskins was my favorite Michigan player in a very long time.  He was magnificent in the back half of the season.  I will be taking him late in my fantasy draft.

Congratulations and I've had that feeling for over 40 years and every time I get to the BIG HOUSE it's the same feeling or even better!!!  This year I won't have tickets but yet and still I'll be entering those same gates for all the home games and at least one away!!!  GO BLUE and the Hard 42-27!!!

Looking at the pic of the scoreboard is a nice reminder that settling for field goals is often a detriment to winning a game in the modern era of football.  Very similar total yards, first downs, and third down conversions, but the final score was not as close as those numbers would indicate.

Michigan was able to move the ball up and down the field with relative ease against Ohio, while Ohio had to work hard for every yard, every conversion, every point.  I love this team and their renewed attitude.

The 18 3rd down attempts for them vs 8 for us is what sticks out.  Our defense was dominant at forcing 3rd downs while Haskins and the OLine mauled the Ohio Dline so we rarely had a 3rd down.  We had 2 punts that accounted for 3 3rd downs, so on 6 scoring drives we averaged less than 1 3rd down attempt per drive… very impressive.

With regards to tickets, did you opt for e-tickets or hard copies? With e-tickets, you’ll get them with plenty of time no problem and will be easy to sell/transfer because they’re electronic.

If you opted for hard copies, they typically come about 3 weeks before the season starts.

Lastly, selling tickets these days has been tough, so I just donate to vettix. You might be able to sell the opening game tickets, but if it’s not MSU, OSU or PSU it’s “good luck”

Your mgoblue account portal for season ticket holders connects directly to stubhub, if I recall correctly, I found last season easier to link between the two - but it was really easy. If you try to link now they aren't available yet. I do believe you can still list them on stubhub now through their app and update later when electronic tickets are available. Either way, list early if you aren't trying to overcharge, that's worked for me. And never sell OSU on stubhub, just don't.

The Big House is a very special place.. glad you got to experience that with your grandfather. I can confirm a final score of 42-27 but it sure felt like a lot more than 15 points!
