OT- Dante's Inferno and other 360 games

Submitted by Litt1e Rhino on
I was just wondering if anyone has played Dante's Inferno and if its any good. I play alot of CoD MW2 and am looking for a new game and have been really wanting to play Dante's Inferno. I usually stick with shooters and EA sports games, but that game has peaked an interest. My gamer tag is Litt1e Rhino if anyone wants to play some CoD or just give me game recommendations. I would also like to get into an online dynasty when the next NCAA game comes out. Ive never done that so I don't know how they go.

Check out Bad Company 2. DICE does a great job putting together a real threat to CoD:MW2's throne. I think there is a demo out for Bad Company 2 but the multilayer might be closed now. Also, if you haven't played Mass Effect 2 then go buy it right now.

Mass Effect 2. It's now a bona-fide shooter with an absolutely amazing storyline. They've trimmed down a lot of the old (and often annoying) rpg elements, like having to find and sell every upgrade and weapon, etc. ME1 was good for the story and universe. ME2 improves on the story and megaupgrades the gameplay. Also, get pumped for Halo: Reach. The (free!) multiplayer beta comes out in a few months. New additions include jetpacks, knife assassination, grenade launchers, and plasma rockets. But about Dantes Inferno, I feel like its not a game I want to spend 50-60 bucks on right now. I'm gonna wait a while and get it used in a few months.

Sure I guess that they trimmed out the "OLD AND ANNOYING RPG ELEMENTS". Sure if you like the bs action games for people and kids who have no attention span and can't play rpgs anymore. Sure ME2 is WAAAAAYYYY better. (I've never played either but you just shat on a whole genre of games it's cool if you don't enjoy it but RPGs are probably the top selling genre of all time).

Bouje, I love my RPG's but that doesn't mean that every element of them is better than every element of other genres. ME2 is not even remotely similar to a "BS action game".

Say what you will. I've played both (ME1 and ME2) extensively. I like rpgs. I've played enough Diablo 2 to make Mephisto cry in his sleep. But ME1 just didn't have the right balance. I said it had annoying rpg elements because some of the rpg elements were not well done, time-consuming, and offered little in terms of fun. In other words they were annoying and got old really quick. They were, you know, the things Bioware fixed for ME2. For example, only being able to carry an arbitrarily finite number of items. Having two different types of "currency" (credits and omni-gel). Having 7 different levels of 5 different versions of a single weapon, and being able to pick up many many many duplicates, when no single weapon really gave you amazing bonuses, other than just scaling with the game. So it might behoove you to stop, take a deep breath, and wait for a few seconds before you go and trash people for no reason, especially without proper knowledge of the subject.

You forgot that combat was so arbitrarily hard that you died often in the harder difficulties and had to keep reloading. And that while you can use different weapons chances are you're just going to use your dumb pistol over an assault rifle because you can't train in the assault rifle. So you become a crack shot with an awesome pistol and a mess with a rifle. That made a lot of fucking sense.

Both games are awesome. I can honestly say, as an avid player of MW 2, Bad Company is a much more satisfying online shooter experience. Trust me. You will like it.

ME2 is fantastic. Combat is way better than ME1. Going through it on Insanity difficulty, then it's off to Bioshock 2. Dante's Inferno kinda looks like a poor man God of War, which GOW 3 comes out this month so I'd waiting for that instead.

I agree that Assassin's Creed 2 is better than the first game in terms of gameplay. But it was way too short. The first game was much longer. I think that this gave the first game a bit of a leg up in terms of which is better. Xbox has started shortening their games and offering "expansions" which are really just additional "levels". They're not a full on expansion as expansions used to be. Obviously, it's just their way of trying to make more money and it sucks.

You can download the demo for it in the xbox marketplace. To say it's unimpressive would be an understatement. The gameplay is basically just mash on buttons while fighting hundreds of enemies. There are wayyyy too many enemies to kill with any real semblance of strategy. Again, it's just a mashing of buttons while you kill stuff. In my opinion it's boring, with poor graphics. Like some of the other guys mentioned, Mass Effect 1 and 2 are amazing games. It's a perfect combination of role playing and shooter. Superb graphics, smooth and fun gameplay, and lots of bang for your buck. Also, I agree that battlefield: bad company 2 is a great game. I would actually prefer it to CoD: MW2. MW2 has better graphics, but that's where the list of superior qualities that it has would end IMO. The gameplay in Bad Company 2 is much more fun, as you can destroy literally anything and everything that you see in the game. Bioshock 1 and 2 are fun as well, but there's no multiplayer. Also, as far as games go that reign supreme, besides Mass Effect, I would have to add Assassin's Creed 1 and 2 on there. I don't think I've ever played any games that were better than either Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed.

I'm waiting for PSN to release Mega Man 10 already. 9 was awesome. It's so brilliant to do it 8-bit style and so interesting: Mega Man, Metroid, and Sonic games, among others, started becoming 3D in the N64/PSone generation. I think Metroid 3D games got good reviews, Mario 64 is legendary (Galaxy is overrated), but Mega Man and Sonic didn't do so well. In fact, some of the 3D Sonic games were much maligned and one has even been labeled one of the worst video games of all time. But after next-gen MM releases along with multitudes of spin-off series, Capcom made MM9 in old-school 8-bit style and it was awesome. MM10 comes out today and a side-scrolling Sonic 4 will be released in the next few months. It seems like game companies are accepting that a game doesn't have to use current-gen technology and that many classic old-school games will continue to be great and sell like crazy. It also helps that they probably require smaller production teams, fewer hours, and lower production costs since they don't have to package the games if they're being sold online. The game services probably take a cut, but the profit margins must be huge. Is this true?

I know it's pretty old but if you haven't played Fallout 3 it is a must play. It has multiple downloadable contents so there is endless amounts of fun. I also recommend Bioshock 2. The online isn't great, but the campaign is a great play. Also, if you're wondering about playing Dante's Inferno, it is a fun game, it's just weird as hell. If you play it, be prepared to be creeped out, and if you have children that might see you play, do not play it. It's extremly graphic. Even compared to shooters like MW2.

Call me prude, but I'm a little bothered by Dante's Inferno. I do find the idea of basing a VG on a classic epic to be really cool. I don't know if it's still included in the release, but I'm a little bothered by the "Bad Nanny" trophy, given for killing unbaptized babies in hell. Don't get me wrong: I love the GTA series and am mostly fine with things that are risque and border on tasteless. But even though the unbaptized babies are more like little demons, the idea of killing babies in any form is unsavory, not funny, and disturbing. But what also really bothers me is the game's embracing of exclusivist (religion experts please correct me) doctrine of eternal damnation for not just nonbelievers, but those who are unbaptized. I'm realistic and do not expect all religions to embrace today's PC standards and just say, "it's cool, you don't need to follow our rules to reach salvation." Every religion thinks that it is the correct path and it's foolish to expect otherwise. I say just do your own thing, respect that other people do things differently and call it a day. Inferno not only embraces excluvist doctrine, which I think is best kept behind closed doors thank you very much, but goes a step further and implements it into a bonus achievement. It's one thing with Dante including it in The Divine Comedy as that was the rule of the day. And it's not even so much about such beliefs' nature of exclusion of or superiority over others; nothing I can do about it, nothing to lose sleep over. It's just that that exclusivist belief in the historical context in which Dante incorporated it into the original work, formed part of the basis for wars and the persecution of Jews, Muslims, and others during the Middle Ages. It caused some of mankind's ugliest moments with intolerance--calamities that are still commemorated to this day--and is not something to be made light of. Because of the game's source material, the nature of the belief as included in Dante's work is not so easy to ignore, especially when it factors into the game's battle of good vs. evil.

I haven't seen much on it... But I recently read an article on Metro 2033 coming out next week.Looks promising. From what I've seen it reminds me of the original Deus Ex(an all time favorite of mine)...Which was alot like "System Shock" from what I've heard?
