I was all set to root against them this year.  Now I may actually have to watch a game or two...

Dre is up to 17 points, 15 boards, 2 steals, 2 blocks in 23 minutes. He is a monster.I think everyone thought he was a slacker who didn't care about basketball because he loafed a lot at UCONN. They were obviously all 100% wrong. Dude has spent every waking moment either at the Palace working on his post up game, or with Hakeem, working on his post up game. He is a gym rat who only cares about basketball. We got lucky as hell.

on Drummond's work ethics, desire to get better and his production at UConn did not match his potential/athletic ability.  I'm glad that 8 teams passed up on Drummond and Dumars did the smart thing by taking him.  UConn wasn't the best environment for Drummond and every players tanked in that season.

I see Drummond as a superstar and end up as the best C in the league when all is said and done. He has freakish athleticism, great size at 6'11", 270 lbs, and he was super productive in limited minutes.  People forget that he's only 19 and is about to turn 20 pretty soon.  That is scary.

Now I haven't read the entire thread so if this was already asked then I'm sorry, but where is he going to get the playing time? It appears Dumars still believes in Knight as the future at PG (albeit smart or not) but they also re-signed Bynum so where are you going to get playing time for 3 PG's?

This makes me feel just as fuzzy inside as drafting Trey would have.  He may have spent ten years playing elsewhere and only six in Detroit, but he'll always be a Piston to me and I'm thrilled that he'll get a chance to function as a coach on the court, to retire here, and to get on the management track with his idol Joe Dumars.

We traded Chauncey because he was getting too old and declining, now that we are rebuilding we choose to pass on Burke but re-sign the already presumed declining Chauncey, this just confirms that Joe D has no clue...

Trading Chauncey when he makes 11 million dollars as a 32 year old PG on a team whose championship window closed is a lot different than paying him 2.5 million to be our 37 year old backup PG that mentors his doppelganger for a team that is on the upswing.

This move has little relevance to Trey Burke. Joe is stacking the deck so Brandon Knight succeeds.

a good rebounding and shot blocking team this year. Depending on who's on the floor, they can rebound from positions 2-5. KCP has shown he is a willing rebounder, Smith, Monroe, Drummond are all beast on the boards. Not to mention the shot blocking capabilities of KCP, Smith, Drummond, Krastov(spelling?) and Mitchell who could be the steal of the draft. I do not know what all the negative opinions in regards to this Pistons team is about but if KCP has a decent year, Drummond continues to compete and improve, Smith brings his usual game minus all the threes, the Mo Cheeks and Billups combination helps Knight with a smoother transition at PG this season and the bench with Krastov, Mitchell, Singler, Jerebko, Stuckey, Bynum, the new shooter from Italy league and Billups can contribute efficiently, then i see no reason why this team is not at most a 6 seed in the playoffs. That is a far cry from the past several years in declination. The Pistons are headed in the right direction and that is good enough for me right now. Does that save Dumars job imo, probably not but he has improved this teams future. Burke or no Burke! If the 2014 draft is as deep as everyone thinks it will be then the Pistons should get a good player regardless. I personally would rather have a playoff type season, than tanking for some kid who is going to need a year or two before he even makes a impact. I like our team!!!

...at least this season. Pistons desperately needed a sharpshooter on their roster, and Billups is one who can do more than just spot-up from three. He can pull off the dribble and is still an adequate defender. He could be good for >30 mins a game and maybe start if he can run a team that should look to be getting out in transition a lot. Anyone think it's worth looking to acquire Lin? He had a lot of success during the period where the Knicks were sending out a lineup similar to how the Pistons will look this year.
