OT: Brave Tigers

(Obviously staying with the theme of ambiguous/minimalist thread titles here)

With the Season Opener just  over 2 weeks away (Monday, April 6th vs the Twins), we're finally going to see Miggy and VMart at the plate today.

VMart is up to bat in the first inning as I type this...

I guess I missed that part while listening to Tim Kurkjian on SportCenter a little earlier this afternoon.

Miggy must have stayed home in Lakeland for the game vs. The Nationals, right?  I'll try to get updates as that game progresses.

BTW, Victor K'd in his first at bat in his spring debut.  Something he rarely does, good to get it out of his system, I suppose.

is 0-for-2 so far, striking out both times. But JD Martinez just knocked out a 2-run HR in the bottom of the 4th, Tigers now trailing 4-2.

are done for the day, each after their 3rd AB as DH in the two split-squad games.

VMart finished 0-for-3 with a K before being replaced; Miggy singled in his final AB after K's in his first 2 trips to the plate.  Most importantly, though, they both saw their first game action of the spring.  Off day tomorrow, then back to action for the Tigers on Tuesday.

According to what I've read today, the Tigers will be closely monitoring the two of them and splitting duties between them as DH until sometime closer to opening day.   On days with just one game, one will play while the other stays back to play with the minor-leaguers, thus giving them both daily at bats.  Miggy in particular will be limited until the medical and training staff feel he's ready to play defensively.

Last I checked, BTW, the Tigers and Braves were tied, while the Nationals led Detroit 6-3 late in that game.
