I get that Dabo played at Alabama, but him leaving Clemson would be bad for college football.  You can go to new places, but once you've built something you've got to keep it going.  I like that Jeff Brohm stayed at Purdue to try to keep building something.  Saban has been almost unstoppable at Alabama, but going from MSU to LSU and then to Bama after the NFL makes him a douche*.  Urban Meyer going to OSU after Florida is douchey.  Meyer going to his next college gig will be even more douchey.

*forgive my lack of good words to describe this phenomenon.

Yea, but coaches leave all the time .... hard to turn down your alma mater.  Especially if there is no "building up" of the program.  Win titles at 2 schools, one of which is your alma mater, and you're no longer just a great coach, you're an all-time great coach.

I heard that this AM.  I was definitely "huh???"

FWIW, the "other football league" (the AAF) starts this weekend.  The AAF has 8 teams.  The youngest coach in that league is 57 years old.  The coaches there include 5 former NFL coaches - the likes of Mike Singletary, Dennis Erickson, Mike Martz, Mike Riley and Steve Spurrier (!?!?!?).  Also Slick Rick Neuheisel.

So, I guess Stoops is a bit like them.  An older guy who has coached at very high levels, and views this league as a way to return to the sideline.

The difference --- the big difference --- is that Stoops surely has many more options that most of those guys.

Bob Stoops is in the XFL tonwork on his “new offense” watch and see as he tinkers and gets the kinks out before heading to USC and starting another juggernaut, pisses me off but it’s gonna happen.
