OT: Block M on pitcher's mound at Brewer's stadium?

Submitted by shikselover on

Watching the Phillies-Brewers game on national TV...the pitcher's mound has a beautiful maize and blue block M on it.  It sort of matcches the Brewers colors, but not the font.  Anybody know if it's for the Brewers?  Or is there a Michigan connection?

...my son was watching that game and pointed it out to me.  Then he said, "You should post something on mgoblog about this."  Smart kid.

Last night they (and the Phillies) wore their retro uniforms, which had that particular M on the cap, and they put that M on the back of the mound as well.

Must say that I like it!

I was watching Sportscenter at my friend's house and saw this.   Everyone figured it was Milwaukee, but I knew that an explanation would await me on MGoBlog when I got home.

I had a Henry Aaron card when I was a 7 yr old with that M cap on while he was with the Brewers late in his career. I was convinced for 24 hours that Don Canham had made one of the best trades in Big Ten history. Ricky Leach wouldve had a lot more pitches to hit that's for sure!
